Lowered suspension

Hi folks :luxhello:

Just a quick question for those in the know.

How long should it take for suspension to sit at the height it should be after being changed?

I have just had STi suspension fitted to my WRX but its still sitting higher than what it was on standard suspension :( Its supposed to be sitting around 20-30mm lower so I have been told :)

Thanks :thumb:

I found mine settled after the 10-15min shakedown run I did and didn't really alter much after that.

EOEUMC 11 September 2013 04:09 PM

Well its been 5 days now since it was changed over :(

Fonzey 11 September 2013 04:29 PM

Perhaps your old wrx springs were lowering springs? How do the old and new springs compare uncompressed?

Rob swallow 11 September 2013 05:48 PM

Should settle straight away. I've done 2 cars no subaru's but as soon as I dropped them off jack and had a quick drive they was at height and didn't move. Does it drive better than it did?

dukeoffenland 11 September 2013 06:17 PM

Maybe replacement wrx springs on Sti shocks ??

EOEUMC 11 September 2013 08:35 PM

The car seems to handle a bit better and tbh I can't compare springs as one set is on the car and the others are in the workshop. I'm not sure as to what to do about them now as I had to pay to have them fitted :(

Rob swallow 11 September 2013 08:59 PM

Could've had lowering springs fitted before mate. Mines been lowered about 50 mm and its crap on road. Too harsh too stiff no feel f*****g rubbish. Going back to stock or maybe coilovers so can get feel I want. If your happy with how it feels leave well alone mate.

EOEUMC 11 September 2013 10:10 PM

It was high before but as said it seems even higher now :(

This is the rear

The tyre is 215/40/17

That looks same height as mine uk2000 ppp dono what suspensions on it think standard, black shocks black springs

dukeoffenland 11 September 2013 10:30 PM

That looks high mate

piehole1983 11 September 2013 10:40 PM

Looks the same as mine and I have the same wheel/tyre size as you. Mine is a UK 2000 also.

piehole1983 11 September 2013 10:42 PM

I just had a look at a photo of mine, its actually about an inch lower than yours and my struts/springs are standard.

*matthewturb2000* 11 September 2013 10:42 PM

Mixed responses there :(

I know there not the best pics to compare but here a couple of before and after suspension swap

Before

After

I also had both front cv joints/gaitors change as they were both leaking :( So not sure how much that would effect the handling of the car.

alcazar 12 September 2013 12:52 PM

It looks lower to me.

Rob swallow 12 September 2013 02:07 PM

Mines lower than that and it's **** to drive on normal roads. If it handles nice and rides nice and you've got a feel for the car don't worry about height. I wish mine was 1.5" higher than it is.

Where's Alfreton to March, Cambridgeshire?

Rob swallow 12 September 2013 04:59 PM

It's about an hour and a half at a guess mate. Put my post code in sat nav mate. De55 5jq. My wheels are 215/40/17 and the gap to wheel arch from top of wheel is 15mm front and 20 mm rear. It's like a male dwarf porn star low and hard:)

EOEUMC 12 September 2013 05:15 PM

lol our roads are pretty naff here too and tbh sounds like they may not be suitable.
What is the suspension you got on anyway?

Rob swallow 12 September 2013 05:21 PM

When I can afford coilovers they are going in the bin. If some one wants a slammed impreza these are for you

Rob swallow 12 September 2013 05:46 PM

Not sure on suspension it was on when I bought car in may

EOEUMC 12 September 2013 08:06 PM

Can you take a side on pic please Rob?

Rob swallow 12 September 2013 08:28 PM

Haven't got photo bucket set up mate will try and set one up

CREWJ 12 September 2013 08:32 PM

Looks about right. Tyres should be 205/45/17 though. Then they would fill the arches more.
