2004 STI TYPE UK

Thought I best start a thread with this considering I have already shelled out £3k in 3 weeks, looks like it could turn into an on going love / hate project again :S

Bought the car about 3 or 4 weeks ago now. Very clean example with a full Subaru service history! Unusual! Its a 2004 STI Type UK. Few pics below and the current spec as of today (soon to change again I think)!

Also car is booked in for a rolling road on Thursday to let me know what the car is producing currently. Duncan (the mapper) stated the car is very healthy and responded well during the map so we will see :)

As I say I have already got some plans to push the car to the next level in the next few weeks but we will see how that goes :norty:

Will be interested in the power graph as im wanting to do similar mods

As promised my Rolling road Figures from yesterday. Car made 344bhp and 326 Lb/Ft :)

Looking at the full storey though the car is making a bar of boost around 3750 rpm and pulls really well right up to 7000 rpm. Car is great on the road, very responsive and yet still pulls enough power. All this was on a relatively safe map from Duncan at Race Dynamics, running just slightly under 1.4bar of boost and airing on the side of over fueling from the AFR reading.

To push the car further with this kinda map would need to go larger injectors as mine is running around 96% duty.

See above for list of mods :thumb:

For what you have there including the turbo I would've expected more than what you 've achieved . your vf35 would have given you 330 so yes overall, a better larger turbo the 18g but no great shakes over the 35. Who told you you would need bigger injectors or a fuel pressure regulator to achieve more?

Could achieve more fairly easily I am sure, I did expect around 360 myself must admit.

Less then 1.4 bar and a 'safe' map arn't taxing the turbo nor the engine. If you look on the site these turbos run high 300's on some cars.

Don't need bigger injectors but with the current map and a duty of 96/97% they are getting pretty maxed out with this map. The turbo reacts different then the VF35, feels quicker on spool to me and definitely has more puff at the top end.

This is my everyday road car so I am mindfull of reliability :)

I think I may go down the avenue of having an 'aggressive map' and then retain this 'safe' one so I can switch depending on situation and mood.

If dyno is correct on spool point then its very laggy - header of intercooler of dump valve leak? If their wideband is reading correctly (rr wideband see a lot of use and often with racefuel) its very rich costing power.

Do you know what make of turbo it is? Not chinese ? Just scrolled back up, harvey 18g normally good.

Somethings not right imho
