The wonders of piston heads

Doesnt seem so mental when they are asking 5k for this one: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...er-vgc/1679645
Big money for a 10 year old wrx! |
Suppose he's banking on it as it's a low mile one.
Probs worth a grand less tops |
If the last (only) owner had it for 10 years, and it's a 2003 then how long has this one had it for ?
Mmmmmm :Suspiciou |
I quite like adverts like these as they make mine look dirty cheap!

It does say wife won't drive it. Sounds fair to me but get her a car and keep the Scooby for yourself.

Low miles here .... ;) http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...--2004/1689772 |
I'd say that is bang on the money for a low mileage minter.

13.5K for a 10 year old STI - not a chance
|
miles makes no diffrence to rubber, well kinda, at 10 years your still gonna get failures from rubber due to it going brittle etc. low milages doesn't mean new, as long as at 10 years its under 60k then fine, anything over that will drop the price.

There are people out there who will gladly pay well over the odds for an uber low mileage car.

That's absolutely er.....um.... (Lord, I'm lost for words !!) ... let's say 'absurd'. To state the obvious, the vast majority of buyers want a car to drive, not to add to a collection and/or put on show in a museum, so his buyers are very limited (probably 99% of people looking for a Subaru at this moment won't even look at that). I could go on forever (and was going to) but that's ridiculous. Let's put it into context. I refer to an ad on Pistonheads (and here) earlier this year. An extremely limited edition Subaru, absolutely mint, 7 years old with 28K on the clock. And this limited edition 10 yr old STi with 6K on the clock is being offered at about 22% less. The first one depreciated by about 45%, the one three years older by about what - 40% ? (around £22 - 23K new?). If it was originally Richard Burns' daily driver then yes (perhaps). PS - only 6.5K miles. Has it been run in properly ??? :D |
