Why buy any when Navman and google maps are free ?

farmerwrx 09 September 2013 10:38 AM

i'm familiar with tomtom i have the others but not keen on them

They are transferable from devices!! All you need to remember is your android market information when you have new phone to download all apps again! I use Navfree on a iPhone and it overheats and the phone shuts down! Not sure what your phone will do if its in constant use!!

I had Co-Pilot on my Galaxy S2 along with a years free traffic subscription. It was excellent. I would install it on my S4 but the BMW has built in navigation, shame it's not as good as Co-Pilot but it seems daft to use anything else.

Only issue with google maps is that it requires a data connection sometimes.

TomTom has local map storage so that's the main benefit from my point of view :)

yes google maps data update in the valleys is very hit and miss

I recently bought TT for my iPhone 5 and its great. A bargain compared to a standalone device and you get all the map updates automatically. Also good to navigate straight to any of your contacts. And as said above the maps are offline which is key.

You just need a decent dash / screen mount and a fast charge cable as using your phone for SatNav without charging = no battery at your destination. I went with a Brodit Centre Dash Mount and the Griffin Powerjolt charger cable.

Sygic is meant to be the best of the bunch, uses tomtom maps as well.

Co pilot on my note 2 is spot on. Maps are on your card so no need for data

farmerwrx 11 September 2013 12:08 PM

i went for it and i'm not disappointed , very good !

Try Navfree, I have used in both my S3 & I-phone 5, Never had any problems with it.

Have you downloaded the separate camera app as free for a year? I have but not used it as yet. The standard TT nav app seems to show cameras ok – at least the ones locally to me that I have driven past so far. I guess the separate app has a bit more detail for mobile camera sites etc.

Downloaded Sygic for use on our holiday in central France. Absolutely the best satnav product on the market. I have used all the mainstream offerings.

Download the free 7 day trial, before you spend any money.
