Newage aluminium boot lid

Anyone know where I can source a new or very good condition Ali boot for a newage?

I'm after one without any holes so needs to be new or if its used will need to be from a spoiler less RA-R or equivalent.

I know I can use japanparts or companies from the US but I looking for alternatives to avoid the big shipping cost.

Any recommendations welcome. Thanks.

No such thing as far as I know as oem? You can get some from the likes of subaruwrcspares but there are not cheap (500?) and we're only made for the competition cars so no idea if they'll fit a road car.

Cheap standard one here thats had the holes welded, filled, prepped and repainted. They're pretty light without the spoiler on anyway....

Its in Surrey too.

2005 onwards spec c had them. I bought one for my jdm sti as my original had rusted slightly under the spoiler. Litchfields used to sell them as its where mine came from although I bought it new from someone on here. They are available with holes for either high or low level spoiler but only with round boot lock as no jdm ever had the square one. I thought it was a worth while upgrade but I only paid about £100 and it was brand new complete with Lichfield receipt.
Jap performance parts get them sometimes used.

As above JDM MY05 Hawk Spec-C only was the only Newage to have an Ali bootlid

Thanks, didn't think about Litchfields.

It's for my hawk RA as I'm considering ditching the wing but want to keep the Ali.

Take your spoiler off and get the holes filled on your boot?

I don't want to go that route. I want to be able to put everything back to standard if needed.
Thanks though.

Aaron1978 05 September 2013 07:35 PM

Keep the spoiler and redrill holes if necessary. If you're buying a genuine alloy boot then do so when/if you want to go back to standard.

wiley 05 September 2013 07:42 PM

keep the boot and spoiler, use rubber gromits to cover the holes when without spoiler

I bought a small amount of vinyl (like whats used to wrap cars) in the same colour as my car. I then cut out small circles and stuck these over the holes. Then when I came to sell the car I just peeled the stickers off and bolted the spoiler back on.
With a close look you'd of never known.

jimblive 06 September 2013 07:52 AM

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
However if I do swap it I'd want to keep it Ali and I would not want to play around with my standard boot or just cover the holes as I'd always see them.

Might be easier to source a whole Ra-R than just the boot!

Get it bought !!

I know i'm supposed to like that car, but I don't, and at £25k it's a lot of money to not be able to "tweek" it as they need to be left standard imo.

22B for me at that money.:lol1:

AS Performance 06 September 2013 09:04 AM

at the risk of starting another "war" its definately NOT a version 9............;)

Yep, not that they had versions but if they did then a widetrack blob would be a 9.

I like it but do agree that I'd have a 22B infront of that.
If money was no object I'd definitely have an RA-R in my collection though

I thought version numbers stopped with the classics ??

Whats a V9 then Alyn ?

I always thought jdm bug sti was a V7, first gen blob was a V8, widetrack blob was a V9 and so on.

AS Performance 06 September 2013 11:56 AM

not in JDM Homologation terms............other than that there is no numbering systems and Subaru dealers claiming v9 Hawks, etc. are way off the mark!!

basically it increases every year, so Bugs 7-8, Blobs 9-11, Hawks 12 & 12b (no 13), etc.........

So they changed the system after the classics. Seems strange that they would do it by year instead of model. If bug is 7 and 8 there would be no difference in the cars :wonder:

AS Performance 06 September 2013 03:21 PM

there is a difference in the JDM cars every year...........

similiar to v5 & 6 classics 1999 / 2000 MY

The Pink Ninja 06 September 2013 05:43 PM

Hence why you have N10, N12 etc on the group N rally cars ;)

huzzy1 06 September 2013 06:21 PM

Don't do it Jim!!!!

jimblive 06 September 2013 06:53 PM

I wish that RA-R link had not been posted!

I knew you'd say that. All original parts would be kept to go back to standard.

It's just that I fancy a change but can't bring myself to sell the car and get something different. I know if I did sell it I'd regret it and then never be able to find another white RA hawk.

It's the ups and downs of owning this car. It's fantastic and brilliant, however I can't really tinker with it and I can't sell it as its so rare I'd never find another. So it's a rock and hard place, I'm not complaining though, as its not a bad problem in reality.

huzzy1 06 September 2013 07:02 PM

Yeah fair point mate. It'd look good without the spoiler, just for a change mind you. Like you say. The car is perfection personified mate but a few tweaks won't harm it!!

Only ever cosmetic things that can be removed and all standard parts would be kept - I know the spec I need to keep it in for you ;)

huzzy1 06 September 2013 07:15 PM

Mate if it was ever up for sale you'd have a bidding war! So many people would want it.

jimblive 06 September 2013 07:29 PM

Although I get lots of people asking me to let them know if I ever sell it, I'm not sure how many realise its a type RA and therefore would cost a chunk more than a Spec C.
Besides I thought you put a reserve on it over a year ago?

huzzy1 06 September 2013 07:35 PM

Yes mate I'd snap your hand off for it! I don't think you'd lose a penny on it. Likewise with mine, don't think I'd lose much...even if it is a 15 year old classic!
