Type r rear quarter glass external trim removal?
Does the external rubber/trim easily remove from the car? Im painting the rear quarters and don't want to be messing about with trim lifting tape as it still seems a bit tight.
Do they clip off or unbolt? |
Anyone know if the window is bolted or glued in?

Managed to find out the following.
The rear side glass is bonded in and the external trim can obviously be removed. Both internal trims, upper and lower, need to come out to access an 8mm nut at the rear most corner. Externally the rubber between the front glass and rear glass needs to come out completely as does the metal rail that holds this in. Small screws secure this to the car. The rear trim can then be carefully levered away from the car at its front edge by lifting each plastic clip away from the glass. It then pulls away but has broken 2 of the uppermost clips. I cant find these listed or for sale anywhere to will have to fabricate replacements. hope this helps someone else. |
I've just had mine done and two clips at the top of the external window surround were snapped and glued back on. Not overly happy with this I've ordered new ones up to fix it properly. I'll get them tomorrow so can give you the part numbers off the bags

Cheers, the part number would be spot on mate. It will save me having to make some.
