WOODEN BRAKES STi BREMBO's

Hi,

Just bought a MY05 type 25 and the brakes are terribly "Wooden"

The prevoius owner did high mileage and may have bought new "Blue pads" (godspeed supplied) for economics rather than for performance.

So I replaced the new set of EBC reds which i had in the garage.

Every scoob i've owned and driven on track or road the standard brembo set up is awesome. These feel like the servo's not working and struggling to lock up the wheel even at 50mph.

Stopped engine 10mins and disconnected the vacuum pipe. The non return valve and vacuum was good.

I then held foot hard on the brake and started up the engine and foot went down further as the servo got vacuum. So servo seems to work OK or is it!!

Well I've replaced the Brake Servo and what an arse of a job it was. Intercooler off, turbo heat shield off, master cylinder off and clutch master cylinder/reservoir out the way. And only just comes out.

Brakes are now spot on. So happy days. Although did slit a few boost pipes. :(

I think I may have the same issue. Did you buy a new brake servo, where from and how much was it? How long would it take to do myself? Thanks.

The car had 90k on it but think previous owner had been struggling and put new pads on. Not knowing brand I replaced them but even bending steering wheel could get the wheels to lock.

No I bought one off flea bay. It us awkward to say the least depending on the size of your turbo may mean you might drop down pipe if a big un.

Need to remove intercooler. Master cylinder. Turbo heat shield and its bracket on turbo. Clutch master cylinder. Also cable harness. Then it only just comes out.
