Flex Fuel sensors

Bit of a niche one this...

If you run a Syvecs ECU, it has the capability of using a flex fuel sensor. These sensors measure the alcohol content (ethanol or methanol) and the Syvecs - when appropriately configured - will monitor the alcohol % and adjust the map accordingly.

In practice, this means you can have a map for VPower, and a map for Vpower + x% meth, and your Syvecs will automatically adjust for any meth % between the two. This means that you do not need to be be quite so accurate when mixing meth at the pump. Pretty cool IMHO!!

A flex fuel alcohol % gauge will also be available as a Toucan update in the next few weeks, so you can see what % you're running.

Sensors are in stock, and available with 4m cables for boot mounting, or 1.5m cables for engine bay. The sensor has 3/8" hard pipes as standard, and we also offer -6AN fittings if you need them.

Prices range from £185-£215+VAT depending on option.

If you want to know more...just ask!

These are currently on sale! £140+VAT without AN6 fittings, or £150+VAT with :D

Hi how much are these as after one for my blobeye I'm running alcatek ecu. And getting mapped soon

Hi. I don't believe the AlcaTek supports the flex fuel sensor unfortunately.

Current prices range from £132 delivered up to £204 delivered depending on fittings and cable length/connector required.

Sounds good, my megasquirt 2 ecu can support flex fuel too. I take it they come with voltage Vs fuel percentage graph?

Not exactly. The output from the sensor is a pulse stream, where the frequency is a measure of the alcohol content (50Hz = 0%, 150Hz = 100%) and the pulse width represents fuel temperature.

It is up to the ECU to work this out - Megasquirt certainly does, as do Syvecs and Haltech. So you can just wire it in, then set up the ECU.

As an aside, I will be adding Megasquirt support to Toucan in the coming months :)
