1998 UK Classic - Decat downpipe - worth it?

Hi All,

Sorry for this post as i'm sure its been up loads of times but can't find exactly what i'm looking for.

I've got a 1998 UK Impreza turbo, the previous owner has fitted a decat mid pipe but retained the cat in the downpipe, which apparently allows it to fly through MOT's so appears to be a good compromise, what I want to know is will a full decat downpipe make enough of a difference to make it worth it? I understand my model year cannot be remapped.

I can get a friendly MOT done so this part wouldn't be a major issue, but obviously if we're only talking 5bhp extra or something i'll leave it :-)

It does give extra bhp, but only with a decent remap, which, as you say, isn't available....without either a replacement ecu, (like wot I have ;)), or a daughter board.

Either way, it's more ££££, then you have the problem of getting it through the MoT.
