Ouch

Just renewed my insurance
(Bell Direct for a Japanese import WRX)

Original renewal notice was 744 (incl max no claims bonus etc)
which was not unreasonable, and better than other quotes I've had

Phoned them up to advise of my recent SP60
(62 in a nominally 50MPH clear country A road .... b******d unmarked entrapment van. My first points on a clean license)

Was expecting a slight increase due to this, but blow me, they now wanted £219 more
(plus could no longer have my father on the policy!? -- this probably caused a significant part of the increase?)

After a bit of haggling got it back down to 913, but still a bit pissed off

Guess I will have to take extra special care not to get any more points for next year

What increases have other people been seeing due to SP30 / SP60 's etc ?

Stephen

 Sounds a bit harsh.

I got an SP30 for 98 in a 60 - 6 points and a £555 fine. The renewal on the Scoob was about £100 more (but I guess it would have gone up anyway). The bike insurance went up £200 because of the conviction but after shopping around I got it for about a £50 increase over my previous years insurance.

Cheers,

Ian.

I don't think an SP30 will make any difference to your premium. It is a given that almost everyone will get caught sooner or later. I was stopped twice in 8 days about 8 years ago - both SP30's but 3 and then 5 points (won't go into why - c**ts at court)). I managed to lower my premium the following year on my 205GTi 1.9 despite this.
As for SP60's, I've never been caught doing more than 12 mph over the limit.

I've got an SP60 and it made no increase on my insurance (Audi A3).
Wife just got an SP30, rang the insurance straight away (Norwich union direct), they said no increase, and added because almost everyone's got one of these !!..
Just watch the A325 Farborough to Aldershot if you're down this way, it's where we both got caught (me 89 in 70, wife 36 in a 30 !! can you believe that ?????).

My boyfriend has an SP60 and when I enquired about putting him on my policy as a named driver it almost doubled the cost  Still, I'm quite happy not having him drive my car ;)

I've got an SP50 and it did n't seem to make any difference. Mate has a SP30 and an SP60 which added 300 to a 1200 premium.

I have fulll NCB etc on WRX 01
Mate has 1 year with write off year before last on BMW 330CI
