My Bugeye UK300

So picked up a new car this week, Subaru Impreza WRX UK300.
1 owner from new, Full Subaru service history, all at the same dealership from where the car was purchased, completely standard and un-mooted apart from a Tracker and upgrade alarm.

Pretty much mint apart from a slight paint imperfection on the bonnet about 5p size (booked in for spray)

I did have the intention of buying a WRX Blobeye and modding it, then though about a STI Blobeye but didn't really match what I wanted to do, then I saw this and I just fell in love with it......which is strange as I dont normally go for the bugeyes lol but this has something about it in the UK300 guise, and of late more and more nicely modded bugeyes have turned my head.

It's got all the certificates, documents and plaques and build numbers to support the car.

So I won't be modding it to much just making a few personal touches her and there!

Best shape, that's why. ( Apart from a 2 door ) :luxhello:

Very nice clean example.

Is that a carbon wrap on your centre fascia ? :)

JonMc 20 July 2013 11:09 AM

Very nice, clean and tidy looking car:thumb:

Midlife...... 20 July 2013 11:24 AM

Very nice. Yep, carbon wrap on interior and has lost the original peashooter exhaust too.

Matt23 20 July 2013 11:25 AM

Very nice mate, love the spoiler.

craigybaby 20 July 2013 12:26 PM

Looks nice that mate :thumb:

MichaelW 20 July 2013 12:42 PM

That looks really nice :thumb:

EssexJamie 20 July 2013 11:59 PM

Thanks guys
Not carbon wrap its actually the whole facia that's carbon effect, not sure if its standard on a UK300 it's the whole centre facia, side vents, middle vents, and all four door window switch plates and the trim that surrounds the dash dials. Think it may be that Carbon Effect hydro-dipping.
Prodrive exhaust ;)

EssexJamie 20 July 2013 11:59 PM

So today these bits turned up:
Phillips H7 Blue Visions x4
Chrome Indiciator bulbs (lose that orange tango effect)
L.E.D'S for Number plate, side lights and interior lights.
Carbon Tax disk Holder

Peedee 22 July 2013 06:44 PM

I still think the uk300 bug is one of the best looking scoobs!

Nice few mods there but I think the gear knob is a bit chavvy. Other than that, great car!

EssexJamie 22 July 2013 08:07 PM

Thanks mate, yeah I love a UK300 Bug.
A lot of people keep telling me to colour code the lights but I really don't like them colour coded it looks wierd.

EssexJamie 24 July 2013 10:51 PM

So had a couple hours spare today so thought I'd tidy some little bits up, nothing major really.

Tired Wiper Arms

Engine bay not to bad but bit dirty on plastics and pipes looking bit dusty and the I/C looking tired:

After a quick clean up with some 303 Aerospace Protectant and WD40 it looks a bit better:

And found a nice suprise:

Just needs abit more cleaning inside the pipe.

EssexJamie 24 July 2013 10:59 PM

Then gave the car a quick wash and wax as it was too got for full detail, really want to get my Machine Polish on it and get a few swirl marks out, although its not to bad!

wiley 24 July 2013 11:48 PM

wiley

EssexJamie 24 July 2013 11:51 PM

Thanks mate, I'm Braintree not far from Stansted Airport or Freeport

JonMc 25 July 2013 09:45 AM

Nice, the simple things make a huge difference - it's all in the detail:thumb:

EssexJamie 25 July 2013 01:56 PM

Thanks mate, yes little things make a big difference, hate rusty little bolts and metal parts.

EssexJamie 29 July 2013 09:51 PM

So just a little update nothing major at all here.

Bosch Aero wipers turned up so fitted them, look better and glide a lot smoother happy with that:
https://i224.photobucket.com/albums/...ps43c321ab.jpg

Then I got news that my Carbon Fibre side markers had been delayed, so I got bored and had some spare Fly Eye stuff left over and decided to cover them.

Fly Eyed Side Markers:
https://i224.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7177b0cd.jpg

https://i224.photobucket.com/albums/...pscf9e80c9.jpg

https://i224.photobucket.com/albums/...psd4337bc3.jpg

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps8465b03a.jpg

Might do the side repeaters tomorrow to match it can always be ripped off lol

EssexJamie 30 July 2013 09:54 PM

So today I Fly Eye wrapped the side repeaters:

https://i224.photobucket.com/albums/...psa3f6d810.jpg

https://i224.photobucket.com/albums/...ps26b81870.jpg

https://i224.photobucket.com/albums/...psefd6929f.jpg

Makes the theme of black and blue a lot better now, got to now find a set of Blobeye rear STI face lifted lights! Then that's the lightening done and dusted!

JonMc 30 July 2013 09:58 PM

I presume from the look of it that the flyeye stuff is opaque - I wonder what the rear lights would look like done in it:wonder:

EssexJamie 30 July 2013 11:54 PM

Mmm not sure, it's really good stuff 100% legal (the genuine stuff anyway), as it doesn't effect the way the light shines, and it doesn't dull the light like tints or foils.
Easy to work with, think someone has done there rears with it.
My mate said it looks like the stuff from Spider-Man's costumes the eye part lol.

EssexJamie 31 July 2013 08:26 PM

Today Postman Pat delivered these from a SNM.....Blox Anodised Blue Tunner Bolts:
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps77eba68a.jpg

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps1e122a75.jpg

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps286fb607.jpg

So before I fitted these I thought may aswell take the opportunity to refurb the Brake Calipers.

Before nice and rusty:
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps3e4df614.jpg

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...pseea3861d.jpg

After:
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps80d655c3.jpg

With the Bolts and wheels on:

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps98df51ea.jpg

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps405a5d7e.jpg

The rears:
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...psc33afadd.jpg

Pretty pleased with the outcome tidies up the car nicely, took ages to do the Subaru in gold, just need some rear caliper Subaru stickers now.
May get some grooved and drilled disks all round now.

JonMc 31 July 2013 08:30 PM

If you plan on using the car avoid drilled discs, they're prone to cracking around the drillings:eek:

Godspeed do some good offers on their grooved discs and kevlar pads which are great unless you plan some serious track abuse:thumb:

EssexJamie 31 July 2013 08:32 PM

On really :( always had drilled and grooved on all my cars. Will check out the Godspeed ones instead then.
Thanks

JonMc 31 July 2013 08:45 PM

Ditto, but it seems the sound advice is to avoid them so I've not chanced it. I have dimpled discs which are less prone to cracking but that's on Brembos:thumb:
