Fuel pressure regulator Q?
 

If I fitted a AFPR in place of the standard one will it need mapping? It might sound like a silly question to some but I can't find anything to confirm either way.

You would be better off leaving the standard regulator on there until you need one. You'll need one if you start heavily upgrading. Original one is ok for light mods. Sometimes fitting a higher pressure fuel pump can increase fuel pressure and make the car run rich so a regulator can control that. But you are going to need mapping when you start doing things like that. Also it's best to use a quality make regulator which is 1:1 with boost which mappers prefer to see fitted.Not a rising rate type.

I do need one as I think the old one is not able to cope or is on it's way out.

I just need to know if a AFPR needs mapping in or if I can just set it to the required fuel pressure (3 Bar). I'll also be buying Fuel lab/Turbosmart one.

You will need get car mapped if you want to raise the fuel pressure(fuel map and AFR will be different),if you will be keeping the fuel pressure at stock level,you should be OK,but still I would suggest at least get this checked

I don't want to raise the fuel pressure, I want it to stay the same. I've had the car remapped by Bob Rawle, as mentioned I think the stock FPR is potentially faulty as I had a real high peak fuel pressure reading (only once). My fuel pressure gauge sits around 3 bar at idle. What I want to know is if I can put an AFPR on and manually set the pressure (if I knew what to set it to) or if it would be better to get a new stock FPR and fit that until I can have the map checked with an AFPR on:)

If you've already got a decent aftermarket regulator I say use that and get the map perfected straight away. It shouldn't cost as much for a tweak as a full map. Give Bob a call and check with him first.

Ask Bob what the fuel pressure was when mapped, most likey standard with the standard regulator.

Fit the fuel lab and set the fuel pressure. Shouldn't need a map tweek, IMO.

I've emailed Bob, my opinion is that if it's running a standard FPR that it has to be running standard fuel pressure. As with anything Subaru it usually requires a map tweek even if you just fart under the bonnet:D

Does anybody know the part number for the OE fuel pressure regulator, or where I can get one from?
