S-Drive, Traction Control & Cruise Control Fault Lights!

I've just taken my 08 STi Hatch out this morning and noticed that after 100 yards the dash lights were not right...

The cruise control was flashing, as was the S-drive light (neither would switch off or over from their controls) and the same from the traction control, it showed off and as with the other two would change?

I VERY carefully took it home and looked through the manual, but no real clues as to why this was such.

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Cheers, Liam

When the engine goes into limp home mode it defaults the Si-drive function to Sports mode and knocks out the cruise control and VDC assistance, you need to get the fault code read/fixed and the ecu memory cleared before it will resume normal business, or 5 stop starts if the issue has been fixed.

Cheers Rob, Sounds like a trip to the dealers then to make us whatever has caused it is sorted, when you say 5 stop/starts do you mean literally starting the engine 5 times would clear it!

Cheers, Liam

yes literally 5 stop starts of the engine.

I've got a little tip here, I was trying to make a video but not enough hands lol.

place your left hand on the light stalk, place your keys in the ignition
Turn the key to the 2nd position and quickly press the trip button 4 times then switch the headlights on, trip button 4 times, headlights off, trip button 4 times, headlights on trip button 4 times, this will then display the fault code on the dash board. but you have to be very quick in doing all of the above, on the fault code a single long press will remove the code.

Try this mate, Not the best guide I've ever done but not bad for a first attempt lol

P1410 - Secondary air injection system switching valve stuck open is causing the cel code..

The following 3 are spurious codes which never been cleared from factory, they most display these..

c0042 Is a power supply voltage
c0071 steering angle sensor
c0076 Clutch pedal switch

Just a handy piece of info to know if you ever need to ring the dealer to fix :thumb:

These are the same warning lights I had on yesterday, I started the new thread in technical.
The lights have gone off and the car seems fine now.

I did the code test and it shows the following -

P_ _ _ _ on trip A , Trip B just shows a P then back onto trip A I had the following,

C 0042 then C 0071 then C0047

Great tip on the video Rob :thumb:

Also my doors are still not locking remotely, if I leave car unlocked , take keys in house , go back out to car after a minute and it hasn't locked itself, it used to work ok , is there a reset for this ? :Suspiciou
Thanks ,
Geraint.

Some one is tired. Only three years late.

Matty81 16 March 2017 08:21 AM

Why would I be tired ? I'm trying to find a fault code and was asking if that would be the same for my car. Whole point of the forum isn't it. If your not gonna say anything constructive don't bother.

the clip is a good little trick , it is also possible to get code readers on ebay for around 15£ and you can also delete codes using them too

The above worked in the end mate after trying it 3 or 4 times. Would of never knew you could do that if I hadn't come along this thread mate.
