car nearly ready for mapping, CEL CODES

so cars been off the road and many things changed as an upgrade.
billet 20g
PE 650cc injectors
greddy catch tank heads and crankcase
ported headers and up-pipe
HDI front mount
bailey chav valve
solid turbo inlet using fmic pipe

was mapped previously with vf48, full decat and wing kit, 3 port and adjustable fpr by Duncan and was great.

and so on so started the car up and was running a bit rough obviously.
wee blow in turbo to downpipe got that nipped up and one of the injectors pissing fuel, again nipped the fuel rail down a little as the 650's are larger than the pink 565cc ones.
anyway drove it a few hundred metres from unit to house at 20 just and got 3 faults pop up car is a blob sti

P0302 misfire cylinder 2
P0304 misfire cylinder 4
P0171 powertrain system too lean bank 1

are these ok and expected with waiting on a map due to the work being done?

Bump for you bud, I've no idea and would probably offer poor advice over the forum.

I'm wouldn't think misfire from changing injector size and crawling about without remap though.

thanks anyway rob

plugs were never out as were near new 7b's but engine loom was off so coil packs were out, I did wonder of two of them went back in the wrong way, i.e back to front and front to back on passenger side maybe that ?

wrx fifer 13 July 2013 11:39 PM

and those two were 2 and 4, maybe should swap them over see how that goes

Hi Grant

I would have look again on coilpacks if they're OK and if they're not cracked etc.

Do you running standard OE FPR or do you running aftermarket one?

If you are running aftermarket FPR I would set close to OE FPR pressure for now, mapper should adjust later on when he will need

Second bit what I would have look is injectors, try put again 565cc if car will missfire with them too.

565cc and 650cc have different opening times and different latency, but I would check if seals are OK etc

Maybe one from injectors is stuck open

hi jura

running aftermarket fpr at around 3.5 bar, coil packs were all fine previously but as said I think 2 is in 4 and 4 is in 2 so will swap them around and see if there is any diffrence

Rob Day 14 July 2013 09:11 AM

Let us know how you get on Grant. Sounds like the obvious coil pack mix up to me, it would explain the symptoms. Jura could be right about the fpr, although as for the injectors I've done this twice and the cars been fine limping around until mapped, and was certainly not rough, but I suppose every cars different ;)

Rob

Ps, standard Ecu?

3.5 bar!?

is set to around the 3 bar mark with the vac line off give or take, mapper can adjust to the required mark

yeah standard blob sti ecu rob

just had a look and the wee white plug is front both sides and the black plug on the coil packs at back both sides so looks like they were on right, which leaves me stumped

The lean code your experiencing could be down to the turbo change as your in effect flowing more air, just double check for air leaks on the system. but mapping should sort that out.

the misfire codes, gearbox neutral switch throws odd codes for misfires etc.

thanks for the help again Rob, will get the nps done either tomorrow or Tuesday and take it from there:thumb:
