ticking noice from passenger side??
 
hi guys im going to do a welcome post soon as I buy the car ..

im looking for some advice on a car im going to look at its a bugeye wrx.

it has a ticking noise coming from passenger side,

quiet on idle but ticking up untill 3000RPM then goes away

so it only happens when driving up to 3k then goes but doesn't do it on idle and is coming from passenger side sounds like old corsa timing chain type of sound

any ideas before I buy and if so please any help would be great

PLEASE WATCH VIDEO ABOVE AND OFFER OPINIONS . sounds like bottom end but surely would be there all the time not go away at 3k or go away on idle thanks

mine sounded like that and it was the big end bearing.
mine was ok on tickover and it started about 2000 to 3000 rpm
are you sure the sound is it the end of the engine and not in the center .
more help will come but i would hang on and not buy it just yet.

My old WRX sounded like that until I ran it on Millers 10w/60 (other oils are available) and it stopped..

Sounds tappity more than bearing.. but IMO walk away

Could be the wrong grade oil causing noisy hydraulic tappets , but id expect it from both banks if that was the case . Might be bottom end though, have a listen from underneath .
There's plenty of scoobs to choose from atm imo wait for a better one without any issues
