5 Speed transfer shaft/gear & center diff bearing set - everything you need!

So I've ended up with an extra set of bearings when I sorted my own 5 speed whining transfer box, long story.

Very common problem on the 5 speeds. If you have a speed dependant whine which gets louder the faster you go regardless of in/out of gear then there's a very good chance that the problem is with you're transfer driven shaft bearings, the transfer drive gear bearing or the centre diff bearing, or multiples of them or even all of them.

See my post here: https://www.scoobynet.com/drivetrain...-2006-wrx.html

This set of bearings includes the new driven shaft bearings revised by Subaru last year due to the durability issues with the original parts and the reason so many have this problem. It also includes all the other bearings in the transfer box and the output shaft oil seal as you would be mad not to just change them all while you have the transfer box open.

Transfer Driven Shaft front bearing, Subaru Part #806322080
Transfer Driven Shaft rear bearing, Subaru Part #806330120
Transfer drive gear bearing, Subaru Part #806230170
Center Diff Front bearing, Subaru Part #806255010
Transfer Case Output Shaft Seal, Subaru Part #806735210

My local Subaru dealer wanted £245 for the set, I sourced them in the US for £140 including delivery and import taxes, I cant return the extra set as it would not be cost effective so need to sell them.

They're boxed, brand new sealed and I'll add a pic later.

£125 delivered next day to anywhere in the UK

Cheers!

I messaged him in November mate, no reply.

I'm just gonna run mine over to David @ APi, about £300 - 400 + vat fitted.

It is rare that you need all of three bearings shown in our experience. But if you are doing it at home you need to have a set or you face the chance of having to leave the car in bits whilst you source the missing ones. We try to keep a single set of all, but usually get away with changing just 2 or 3.

It can be done while you wait by appointment and regularly costs between £300 - £350 + VAT [ £360.00 inc to £420.00 inc ] depending upon which we change.

Call for an appointment if you wish.

We used to run an "API unofficial Salesman of the year " on here for the folks that mentioned/ recommended us most. Prize was a free service or something similar to the value of £200.00 if I recall. The only qualifier really was for relevant work, past experience etc., or someone will just recommend us on all topics just to get the score up.

Maybe we'll do that again, its early enough in the year to start.

Sounds good, I can get my transfer bearings done for free :D

Right, I'm off to the drivetrain section to earn my keep :lol1:

P.S: On a serious note, I'm probably looking end of Jan, early Feb to come over for bearings/clutch/flywheel as per PM buddy, will give you a call a week or so before :thumb:
