Where best to buy an STi?
Other than a hookers! lol
I'm after an STi, sooner rather than later. A blob eye in blue, not too fussed whether it's 265 or PPP version more concerned with condition. Obviously with these cars, buy a lemon and your nackered. Just wondered if I could be lucky, and are there any known dealers who sell them a lot and people have experience of? I'm reluctant to buy one from a random guy private that might have been treated badly. Prices also, don't want to be ripped off. Could I find a decent blob for say, under £8k, which would be ideal? I just need to read about recommended mileages for cambelt change (or find out if its chain) and any big services / known faults on particular years etc then! |
Ive been lookin mysolf today, theres 2 on autotrader that caught my eye, 1 at 6295, 1 at 6995, seems about the going rate, theres a 54 reg sti for sale on a forecourt near me at 7995!!! well overpriced!!!!
|
if the 54 reg is the wide track version I dont think its really over priced presumably the mileage isnt stupid and has fsh. they seem to hold there money more

Hi mate, i have just put my STI on, if you have a look in cars for sale bit bud. :)
seems to tick your boxes |
There are few 05 STI's for around the £8k mark on Piston Heads.

Although I'm not one of his customers (yet), Hurst cars have a good reputation on here and usually some nice looking examples for sale:

Maybe i'm being picky. I was hoping to bag a minter to avoid any issues but just have to be careful. Going to do some searching tonight and try and get a feel for issues / required servicing.
Anyone know quickly when cambelt needs to be done? I can't make my mind up if I like Impreza's, there's a chavvy sterotype attached. BUT, I saw one yesterday on the road and the presence on the road is awesome definitely a step up from my EP3. Never driven a boosted car either so have to see if I like boost. Little things as well. I bought my EP3 only to find out later one of the badges wasn't right. My main fear is losing the adjustibility as with N/A cars on the throttle, not sure if boosted cars are sort of, on/off. Looking forward to test driving one, :D! |
Far from on off power! You won't look back.
Cambelt is 5 years or 50k miles. Your best bet is to find a good private seller, hopefully enthusiast owned, like some people selling on here. I looked at a few, some asking to end money to find it was neglected. I've turned up to find filthy dirty cars; you'll know when you've found a good un. Your next step is to find a respected specialist for servicing etc. My impreza has easily been the most reliable car ive owned, and they're cheap to look after I have found. Main expense is obviously fuel, but if you're bothered by that, choose anther marque! Good luck! |
Anyone heard of this auto prestige cars limited? They seem to have a lot of imprezas. This one looks decent, says cambelt changed. Would 2005 be when they changed to the 2.5 engines, which are weaker I think?
Also, how fragile is this DCCD model? I was advised somewhere to avoid them in case they break? Any tips on this particular car appreciated, with regard to the dealer and also priceVspec whether it's decent. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...extras/1529095 INFACT - Found one more the ideal budget: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...uk-2-0/1522306 Has anyone heard of them, Richtoy motorsport? Also, any known specific 2003 issues? Looks a bit rough though, tinted fronts etc. |
