Is this a sign of clutch on its way out?

Only noticed it over the last 2 days, on cold start as I pull off from a junction in 1st I got a bit of a judder.. Other than them 2 times all seems ok, no slip through heavy load or anything.

But just wondering if this is a sign of clutch starting to go?

Any ideas on cost on 04 WRX blob?

Cheers

Hi devil,
I may be wrong but my old WRX did this and apparently it can be called clutch "judder" as the clutch over time gets an almost glazing over which causes the judder effect you mention. To cure I believe you just have to do a couple of blasts from standstill ( not too many ) lol and it should clean the clutch. As I say I may be wrong so please wait for others to advise too. lol
Cheers,
Kev

A bit of judder is not necessarily a sign of a failing clutch. My 03 STi would do as you describe for about 9 years!
I recently changed it only as a precaution due to running rather more torque than it was designed to transmit and, at 46.5k miles, was less than half worn!
You can try the method above as it is often quite effective but, if it's more than 60k old, it could be getting a little tired.

Thanks kev and John... When you say blasts from stand still are you talking launch or just hard acceleration from 1st?

Fingers crossed I'm ok, not fancying a clutch bill right now lol

I've just bought one today so if you do end up needing one, £268.98 delivered for a pink exedy is a good price.

Launch. 2.5-3k rpm is usually enough, once or twice.
