jura11 27 June 2013 05:51 PM

Hi there

Neil mapped our wagon when we run OE ECU and we are been very happy with Neil mapping,we are using only him on our project and we can only recommend him

Now he can map via CarBerry ROM and this will allow you to have dual fuel maps,ALS/LC,mafless etc

I've just got back from slowboy, had a vf35 fitted and mapped, absolutely faultless and a ton of fun!!!! Neil is a legend and very helpful

RedBlob25 21 July 2013 04:12 AM

Totally agree, had mine mapped there bout a couple of weeks ago after also having some work done there at the same time, my car runs sweet after the map.

In fact the car is going back in there again for a new clutch and I have complete trust in Neil & Slowboy Racing, I highly recommend them, Neil knows his scoobies.

He's also gonna be sorting out my sports cat clearance issues.

I know it's an old thread but I'm hoping to book mine in for a map end of may. I understand that he road maps them ? If so, how does he do it exactly ? Is it dyno first then roadmap or just a roadmap ?.

cheers guys

This is nearly 4 years ago but he does the mapping on the road, I then went to a couple of dyno days to get figures, both dyno runs i was told how nice then power delivery was. My car is still going strong after all this time :)

Matty81 31 March 2017 03:35 PM

It is 4yrs old indeed :lol1:. Good stuff! Was just interested in how he mapped a car mate. What speeds do you reach on the road ? As this will be my first map, I'm not sure how it works to be honest

BrownPantsRacing 31 March 2017 04:14 PM

He will have to do a full throttle run in 4th gear for as higher revs as he dares to get a typical dyno pull on the road. As you can imagine, that will be quite fast. Somewhat over the limit in my experience!

Tidgy 31 March 2017 04:19 PM

Just be aware during road mapping (assuming your driving) your driving without insurance, your own insurance will not cover you and if you get pulled for speeding you'll be deep in the poo.

Matty81 31 March 2017 04:37 PM

I was thinking that would happen :freak3:. I'm assuming that he will know some decent nearby roads where we can can do those kind of high speeds . I went for road mapping because I thought that to get the map I wanted it would be better driving in day to day driving conditions rather than using a dyno that I'm assuming is restricted in certain aspects of mapping. I'm definitely looking forward to it, but also weary because of the police side of things haha

The engine is being mapped, not your driving ;)

Matty81 31 March 2017 05:00 PM

Thats what I'll say to them if that particular problem arise's :lol1:. The engines driving not me :thumb:

jay vr6 31 March 2017 05:15 PM

Probably best to just ring Neil and ask him exactly what he plans to do.

Why?

Kaeo 31 March 2017 06:13 PM

Uhm wat? As long as your mods including remap is declared, this is not an issue as far as insurance is concerned. Also, it's usually the mapper who drives, and alone, wearing headphones to listen for knock. Some people talk some nonsense on these forums.

nortonscooby 31 March 2017 06:22 PM

Not used this company myself but my old car was mapped by duncan on the road and i drove up and down a long straight road. My current blob was mapped by andrew carr and again on the road but he drove while i waited about at m.b developments. Id say road mapping is best as its real world and mapper would of been insured to do so sticking to the speed limit or not. As said best to give them a call and decide from that.

Matty81 31 March 2017 09:42 PM

I'll definitely be using him. He removed my secondary air pump and mapped it out my ecu last Friday. I liked his work and he was a nice chap. Ill
get in contact with him and see what it involves. Thanks for the help guys

I used andy f on my last four imprezas i drive everytime and you hit more than the speed limit when doing power run

Matty81 31 March 2017 09:47 PM

I can imagine you give it some on power runs actually. Sounds like alot of fun though

ajones3217 31 March 2017 10:28 PM

You may have seen my blue blob there with white alloys, getting some bits done. He is the only person I have used on my car for the past 3 years. Good as gold.

Same experience for me. I drove my car when Duncan road mapped it, then he fine tuned it on a rolling road, then I drove it again while we tweaked and checked it on the road.

When Andrew Carr mapped mine he drove it and mapped it alone while I stood around at Pole Position listening to him honing up and down the road nearby. :D

johnlogie 31 March 2017 11:35 PM

Every time my car has been mapped it's been on the rolling road then fine tuned on the road. When JGM mapped it I did the driving on the road, always within the speed limit ;)
When Russ Paton mapped it he took it out on the road.

If you took your car to garage because it was making a strange noise and the mechanic asked you to take them for a drive to demonstrate the noise, does that mean you have no insurance?

If you had a fault code displayed and a garage reset the ecu then ask you to drive the car while the computer was plugged in and the technician in the passenger seat. Does that mean your insurance is invalid?

legb4rsk 01 April 2017 04:41 AM

You're not covered if your car is abducted by aliens which is probably more likely.:D

Meanwhile back on planet Earth I would recommend Neil for any work needed.
