my subaru
Well my car was delivered today, been sitting like a little boy at Christmas lol
Car was here at half 2 by half 3 it was up on the jacks for some new back brakes In for its mot tomorrow so fingers crossed Bit of a **** doing the back brakes and getting the disk off, the adjuster wouldn't turn and I couldn't get the right angle on it Ended up using 2 bolts to push the disk off and a bit persuasion from my smasher (hammer lol) Got it all done but I did notice there was no metal clips holding the sliders in on one side, I managed to make some up with a bulb retaining clip from an old headlight I had, works a treat Also fitted my hks ssqv, it doesn't seem to dump unless really booting it, it's my first scoob so it could just be normal, no boost gauge ATM though Here's some pics http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps931ea156.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps4285bb4b.jpg The offending article, these were properly ****ed, pads fell to bits when taking them off, also my sliders were really rusty I cleaned them up as good as I could, can I get stainless ones? http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps80c331b5.jpg Calliper a will be going yellow too with gold wheels http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps681c0839.jpg Tucked away for tonight http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...pse0e6eb02.jpg The other half, the only time she will ever be sitting in that seat lol http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps61589cac.jpg Also I made a post about my hks adaptor not fitting right, well it does sort of it needed a lot of grinding and filing to get it sitting right It needed a good channel cut out of it beside the bold hole and the center hole so the case of the ssqv will sit right, ill get some pics, the adaptor I used was a non angled one from eBay |
Another question
My clock display on the dash doesn't seem to be working, any idea which fuse it will be? Also I received 2 keys and 2 fobs, standard scoob alarm The buttons on the key don't seem to do anything, open/lock The key fob does lock and unlock the doors, what's the buttons on the keys for? |
You shouldn't really fit a DV without having the maps tweaked. It will cause the car to run too rich and cause issues. I would get the rust on the arches done ASAP it will spread like cancer on scoobys. I have brought cars with very little mot and haven't been stung yet due to checking everything out. I take it the car isn't decatted? Looks fairly oem:thumb:

crap map tweak or not it will run rich |
WhAt do the keys look like? Stamped Subaru keys?
|
what the crapping hell is that white monstrosity with those lashes on the headlights? please for the love of all things holy tell me its not yours :cuckoo:
|
Hahaha the Saxo is not mine don't worry
Yes both keys are stamped with subaru, yeah I know the downfalls of running a DV without a remap All cats are still there, it has a cobra cat back fitted |
And surely it's only gonna run rich for the second after changing gear and not all the time
|
yes it will overfuel after gear changes. can cause borewash.
mapping will do nothing as the car is running a maf and it fuels the car as it thinks the dumped air is going back into the intake |
well mot time today, pass or fail they decide haha
|
finally got the car in the garage to get a good detailing session
pretty badly swirled which look ok untill the sun hit is came out pretty well i think after a few hours polishing with my rotary and some compounds https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...74404433_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...13513856_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...26142240_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...20084400_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...50990992_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...36370691_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...20340381_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...70902307_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...94789318_o.jpg plans now are either refurb the alloys or buy a set my mate is selling and paint them gold, only thing is his are multi fit and i hate multi fit wheels brake callipers will be going yellow tidy the engine bay a bit, clean up and spray any rusty brackets ive just won 2 smoked gauges off ebay for £6 lol, water temp and oil temp just need to find a matching oil pressure and those 3 will sit where the dash clock is atm in a pod waiting on my boost gauge and volt gauge coming which will sit on the pillar after fitting my new rear brakes i was getting a binding noise like they were sticking, i removed the pads and got the other half to pump the pedal, the outside piston moved but the inside didnt i managed to free them off and the noise is gone, ill probably fit new seals and stainless pistons when i paint them |
also having a good look underneath theres a few patches of rust appearing, im gonna clean the underseal right back and hopefully not have to cut and weld and only have to treat it
hopefully these to products will help, along with a wire wheel attachment on a grinder http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...psb1eb8590.jpg |

Buttons on keys - Don't do anything, all works from the fob. |
cheers, im not gonna bother about fixing the clock as im gonna fit a pod instead for oil temp pressure and water temp
why do they make keys with the buttons on then lol? got a guy coming this week to fix my rear arches as well |
well got the car serviced today
changed the gearbox and diff oil, engine oil, fuel filter and plugs plugs are a bit of a nightmare are the not lol, i struggled a bit on the passenger side rear as the lead wouldnt sit on the plug which didnt help with the chassis leg being in the way all done though, the oil was as black as the night so definitely needed it i change my oil around 4 times a year regardless of mileage bit of a problem i found though, when changing the gearbox oil i found these pieces of metal inside stuck to the magnetic plug gearbox seems fine though no whines and selects gear fine http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...psbcbeda07.jpg also does anyone know where i can get a 3 pin plug to fit this? http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps05bf7651.jpg |
Good project mate.
regarding the plug can you not just insert the wires onto the pins using a small crimp on connector? |
yeah i can maybe try that, you can get tiny spade connectors but i think they might be too big
ive got some pc parts lying about i might be able to get a plug from something there as they are similar |
winner! :)
a plug from a pc fan works lol, tried it on my battery and it lights up fine 3 wire, 1 is the power the other is the earth but whats the other? its a smoked gauge so isnt it illuminated all the time? |
|
I now have a boost gauge and volts gauge, just waiting on my oil pressure oil temp and water temp coming
And I also need some pods to keep them in, 2 on the pillar and 3 where the clock goes They all match apart from the volts which I can live with http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...pse387077e.jpg |
Keep us posted on how you get on with the under body, I'm tempted to have a go on mine.
|
Will do mate I used to own a nova and done it to that, it's a messy job but worth it once its done
|

Cheers folks, back arches getting fixed next week, also ordered a timing belt kit and water pump, where is the thermostat located? Is it an individual thermostat or is it bought in its housing?
|
