Cleaning tips please
Are there any cleaning products recommend by yourselves, from washing to polishing my P1, including cloths etc... And where to get them from

it all depends on how far you want to go, how much you want to spend and what finish you want. Be warned tho, its takes ages, is a lot of effort but the cars do look good when done... for a few days if its a daily lol. ok, so i have just machined my uk and the proccess is quite involved. depending on what machine you use if you are buying one, a DA is good for a beginner, but my mate had a rotary so i borrowed that... so, the process: - snow foam the car and leave to dwell for 10 mins while thats going off coat the wheels with carpro iron x and leave for 5 mins (depending on the state of the wheels may need a few goes, or some action with a cloth to get stubborn dust off) - jet wash off the car - wash the car with a microfibre wash mitt, i use dodo juice sour power shampoo - jetwash - next is to remove tar, spray tardis over the car and leave to bleed/agitate with a cloth - jet wash - if your going to clay the car then dont bother to dry it as you need to lube the clay lots (lots and lots of lube) - i then wash it again with the mitt and sour power - then, if your going to machine it, tape off all joins/trim/rubber/glass as it sprays everywhere and its a fukker to get the spray off after it has dried. do small sections at a time, watch many utube videos of how to do it etc. or do it by hand. i have been using gtechnic p1 polish. this can be used by hand or machine. obviously lots more effort to do by hand if trying to remove swirls etc. use varying grades of pad to see how much it cuts, average swirls will need a firm to medium pad - wipe down the car with a damp microfibre to remove all polish residue. - polish the car with a high gloss polish, i have been using autoglym high gloss as i had it in the garage! - buff off the polish with a clean microfibe turning the cloth often. - wax, i have been using dodo juice blue velvet. apply with an applicator pad, leave it on for 20 mins then buff off with a clean microfibre cloth - some then seal the car, but i havnt got any sealent so not done this step. wheels: imo take them off and give them a good clean with the iron x, then clay them wash rinse etc, and then wipe round IPA (iso alcohol) and then seal with some cquartz dlux (ive not done this step either yet as not had time.) that sealant is expensive, £25 for basically 8 wheels worth, but it will last a year and if you watch the utube vids, brake dust comes off with a hosepipe if its done right!! - polish glass inside and out - autosol and wire wool on the tail pipe and that should do it! last night i got home from work and ive basically machined the roof and the passenger side, polished and waxed. finished that at 10pm last night! so it takes aaaages! i have already machined the bonnet and the drivers side so just need to polish and wax those. i will use the p1 by hand on the boot lid/spoiler as the machine makes such a mess. will do that tonight... all cos i have been asked to take a mates lad to his prom on friday lol... OR you could pay someone else to do it! by the time you bought all the stuff it will probably be cheaper! the other week i spent over £100 on 3 polishing pads, a backing plate, the P1, the Cquartz dlux and bag of 10 microfibres and a drying towel! i already had the clay kit, pressure washer, snow foam bottle, snow foam, iron x, wax, shampoo and wash mitt.... you see what im saying? HTH and gives you some idea! |
