EGR pipe "cap"
Non scoob question but my 2nd day to day motor is Ford CMAx, it's got the dreaded EGR valve but I've given it a right good clean (half of 2L can of EGR cleaner) and it's working so much better. I know though, its only time before have to do it again. I was thinking I could just drill a hole in the egr alloy pipe and fit some sort of boss which I'll unscrew a bolt and spray the cleaner in, will then save taking off all the gubbins around the engine area which takes about an hour of the job.
What can I use to give a seal and yet allow a bolt to be unscrewed within a boss so I can put the cleaner can pipe down it to squirt into the egr vavle area? This alloy pipe is thin and doesn't run particularly high temps as gas is cooled. |
Better option is to do away with the egr valve altogether. They run so much better without them. Have a search on some ford forums on how to do it

I've tried that and yes it runs even better, pulls with almost zero throttle, but only for a day as the dreaded PCM fault light comes on then she runs in limp. Unless I have a way to fool the PCM in thinking it's still there and flowing, I have to keep cleaning her on the odd occasion. It's a crap idea and can be dangerous if the unit sticks open wide...so I put a washer in there so if it does I only get hesitation on part throttle, enough to get me out of the crap.

Last one I did. I replaced a gasket on the egr to manifold with a plate with 2 small holes in just enough to let a little amount of gas in but not all of the **** that follows.

How big were the holes? I was thinking my washer has about a 4mm hole but could get one even smaller.
