03 reg Key prblems

HELP

Just gone out to get something from the car and the car will not unlock from the remote part of the key. it opens with the blade part but the alarm goes off and cant start the car. Anyone else had this problem

Inviroman 20 June 2013 07:06 PM

You anywhere near shop with auto opening doors?
This can jam the alarm and the key will not work, had this at a Shell garage.
The frequency of the system that operates the doors interferes with the alarm and it thinks its being scanned so blocks all to protect its self.
If you can move the car away, mine was a push back 10 feet and all worked.

Nah its on my drive at home never had a prob before

Battery in key ???
Do you have the code for the keypad? You can turn off the alarm and be able to use the car

die-tryin 20 June 2013 07:42 PM

battery was changed recently because of a distance problem and I don't have the code is it easy to get

blackvenom 20 June 2013 07:42 PM

Had this a few times, fob just gives up the ghost, sometimes fidling with it works. If not swapping the battery will do it, I keep some spare in my car and its **** when it does it when your away from home. I need to find the code for my pad but I think I would rather remove the system and fit another.

You can turn the alarm off with your alarm code in the wee keypad next to the ignition...
You should find the code in you car manual/service stuff.

This will let you drive untill you get the fob fixed or find another solution.

A few years ago I had similar with my clifford alarm. The only way to do anything was put ear defenders on unlock manually with the key and key in the code. Drove 500 metres from the house everything worked fine. Went home and no control of the alarm, it turned out that a book had been put on top of the remote for the ceiling fan/light in the conservatory, the signal was over whelming the signal for the alarm.

looked at the second link guessing its a no goer as I don't have a pin so cant put it in change it

daz1968 20 June 2013 10:44 PM

You should have the pin in the handbook pack, then can re program keys to system, I had to do this a couple of times when I had my wrx.

I had this problem recently. I changed the batteries and that didnt work but I did notice the little metal connector spring thing that holds the battery in was a bit squashed. So I streched it out into a cone shape and everything has worked fine since. It might be worth a go.

My classic did this to me in a car wash,i walked home and got the spare key and the same thing, nothing worked and then for no reason about 20 minutes later it was all good and never been an issue since:wonder:

Inviroman 21 June 2013 09:14 AM

In the link I provided it shows you how to change the code even if you don't have the original, just need to have your key in the ignition.
Did it on mine with no problems.
