MY05 Litchfield - what's it worth?
Evening (hope this is the right forum)
I am going to sell my T25 soon, it's got 92k on the clock (I've owned it from new). Has a Cosworth bottom-end rebuild, and some nice extras Has anyone come across any of these cars on the second hand market? Cheers (sorry if this is in the wrong place) |
I'll give you £300 for it Martin!
Might be best to ask Iain himself but to be honest these cars are difficult to price. Some people reckon we will pay £30k for a P1 these days, or £19k for a shed of a Hawkeye with stripes down the middle. If someone really wants it they'll pay a fortune, I would have thought £8k to £12k is a realistic price dependant on trim, condition, history etc. |

If it had low mileage and is in good condition then you could easily get £12k but that mileage is rather high if I'm honest so I don't know how much that would lower the price.

Best of luck getting £10k with 92k on the clock imo. :)

Pics?

I think I need to be careful not to break the house rules here guys.
Could easily be construed as me advertising the car here if I'm not careful |

That (I hope) is more imporant than the mileage, to the right person anyway:) |

I know. But the bits that matter have all been replaced. And I have the full maintenance record for the car.

Not passing judgment on your car as i have not seen it just I think the point over the mileage was there is more than just the bottom end that has seen 90+k, suspension parts, hoses, injectors, turbo etc have all covered the distance to.

Good luck with it though suspension is currently being reconditioned by AST. Turbo turbo has also been completely reconditioned. Is 92k high mileage for an 8 year old car? |

I think people get too caught up with mileage personally, what would you buy a car with 90k on the clock that's had a fortune spent on maintenance with receipts to prove along with a rebuild and one sensible owner from new or a 50k mile car that may have been treated with less sympathy in its lifetime..... That's obviously just an example I know we aren't comparing anything here.
Chances are when you buy a car that's done 10k a year from new most would have been easy motorway miles aswell imo Get some pics up for everyone! Mick |

Yeah you're in the same ball-park as me then, I think I could get 10k, but that might take a while. If I get £8k that will do and be enough for me to get my CL500;)
£8k you say??? Could you send pics and details to kellylou13@yahoo.co.uk |
Worth £10k all day long. Not many T25s around, but plenty of people who want to pay little or nothing for a well respected limited edition

I'll try to play 'the man in the street' here:
When I was looking a few months back I noticed a couple of Type 25's - an MY07 for 17k and I think an MY04 for around 14K. I can't remember the mileage but I know it wasn't high for the year(s). Also at that time was an MY03 that had been modded to Type 25 spec (cossie bottom, ASTs etc), and the genuine seller (they didn't use 'type 25' anywhere in the ad) wanted £10.5K. A few weeks back we had a thread about the 'Type 25 Cosworth Spec' advert for a car that wasn't a Litchfield Type 25. That started at nearly £16K and quickly dropped by a couple of thousand. So, I'm going to compare your Type 25 to others or similarly modded. It looks cheap compared to trader ads but the mileage is high, so I'd want a 'saving' of probably £2-3K at least. I'm not really interested in FSH, it's the future prospects of it needing work, and I'm the one who will be taking the risk because there's no warranty from you. On the other hand, that car has a premium over MY05 STis, including JDMs of course, so you would use that to bring the price upwards, away from the what - £8K or more that they're going for? Do some market research, including what Type 25's have been advertised for in the past 6 or 12 months and pitch it comfortably between that and 9-10K, which is a good premium over an STi. I think it would avoid a lot of haggling and buyers trying to bag a bargain. * It's lower than other ads due to higher mileage; * It's not necessarily out of someone's range who might have been looking for a decent STi but who might be tempted by the reasonable price of yours. I think the fact that someone appears to have jumped at £8K reinforces what I've said. One final point and that is that you'll get a better price - and far less hassle - from someone who appreciates what a Type 25 is instead of someone who's just looking to knock you down. I can imagine it - 'yeah mate, but there's a luvly lookin' 54 plate Sti with 451bhp for only £7.5K on Ebay. Yours is only 420'. Might be worth emphasising that it's a Type 25 and priced as such. Anyway, GLWTS. |
So of the best advice on SN.
