Edward Snowden
The whistleblower who revealed the PRISM monitoring network;
What do we think about him? Should he a) go to prison for revealing national/international security secrets and potentially weakening the war on terrorism, as has been suggested by much of the US mainstream media and politicians? b) be considered a hero? c) Both/Neither? |
Sure i read that he had gone "missing" while in Hong Kong yesterday.:wonder:
And i'm sure I saw a picture of his girlfriend semi-clad on a beach:thumb: |
Judging by the lack of activity on this thread, it would seem people aren't too bothered about what this guy has done, are people really that apathetic about their privacy? Interesting.

It's not the whistleblower that bothers me but Hague's little speech where he basically said if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear..... hmmm, I can think of a few other organisations who have said that sort of thing in the past.... the KGB, the Nazis etc.
Then there are the MPs who instead of standing up for what they believe in basically all said 'well we think the spies are doing the right thing for the good of all of us so we'll not make a fuss'.... now why would they say that, even those known to opose this sort of invasion of people's privacy... oh yes, that's right there is a reshuffle aorund the corner and they don't want to dent their careeer chances.... w4nkers the lot of them! |
On FOX News there was a guy who wants to try this guy to be tried for treason, and have the death penalty brought back for it.
I don't think it's the right to free speech, but the right to not be illegally spied on that is the issue here. The Police need to get warrants to search your property, for a reason. Apparently for the NSA it's pick-and-choose regarding what laws they are required to follow. This is wrong. We are giving up our liberties in a feeble attempt to be more secure; the terrorists have won. |

15% of NHS whistleblowers are sacked for whistleblowing.........many never work again.
No Comment. Shaun |
I don't mind them snooping in everything I write. I have very little to hide and let's be honest. The only way they can catch extremists is through the back door.
I hear that it doesn't just randomly pick people out. It sees what a known suspect is looking at then follows the people they have talked to and their people etc like a web. But they are going to say that arn't they |

And look at the freedoms quietly removed? And look at how difficult it is to get past passport control on a NORMAL day? Beating the terrorists? Nope, they have won. |
