Blobeye quick release wheel fitted "pics"

Just a heads up for blobeye owners looking to go down this route as i struggled for info and had to to a bit of digging on the web :thumb:
MY03 sti
Works bell short boss kit part number 116S and rapfix 2 quick release both ordered from luke @ playskool motorsport.
The whole job start to finish took less than 2 hrs with no drama's and everything you need is in the boss/rapfix kit.

+ on all products & company
Just need a locking boss cap now 2 go all out :)

F1 CJE UK 12 June 2013 12:35 AM

Yep I have that, works well

DarrenSTI 12 June 2013 08:58 AM

Brings the wheel a lot closer to the driver now doesn't it.

Maybe next on my list, but was looking at the deep dish type wheels, but recon it will make it even more closer? Plus wanted a suede material.....now re-thinking the whole set up.

Saw a nice Damd wheel at Snetterton Sunday....pricey but nice.
Unless I can find a nice looking Mono etc in leather?

Well done on your work, looks great.

Thanks, I think with a quick release you pretty much have to go with a flat wheel unless your built like Lewis Hamilton "which I'm not "
If you want deep dish then just the short boss would be fine but obviously your wheel is fixed.
Forgot to mention that the works bell boss still retains indicator cancel and fixes the airbag light :luxhello:

Do like the Works Bell kit.
Locking boss is a great idea too :)

JohnD 12 June 2013 01:36 PM

With the new and impending MOT rules, how do you stand by removing an airbag steering wheel from a car which had one as standard?
I would consider one of these to replace the gruesome thing that comes as standard but I do believe in the benefits of air bags!

In a car with full harnesses John I wouldn't get near an airbag anyway.
As for the MOT, I'd imagine its he same as a decat and blind eye.

tubbytommy 12 June 2013 02:06 PM

what do you do about the airbag light? I assume it has come on on removal of the original steering wheel??

looks great by the way

You get a resistor in the works bell kit that plugs straight in and cancels the airbag light.
Simples :thumb:

Sorry for the silly question but what is a locking boss cap? Is it just something that goes over the whole boss stopping anyone else putting a different steering wheel?

Although you would be pretty unlucky for someone to be walking round with a works bell rapfix quick release fitted to a wheel looking to steal a subaru !

nice setup. what model of Momo steering wheel is that. I have a Momo Mod.07 Full Dish but thinking to change to Momo Mod.69 or 78 flat dish type as I find the wheel I have to close to me now and it's not very comfortable on longish drives.

I bought it second hand so not sure on the model number.
It does have subaru stamped in the leather on the centre spoke so it must have been oe at some point ?
It's 350mm with about 1.5 - 2" dish :thumb:
