Changing vf36 headers??

I noticed while doing an oil change at the weekend that the heatwrap is starting to come off my uppipe, also the heatshielding on the headers is in a bad way and rattling and could probably do with being removed. Is it much work to remove the metal shielding and just re-wrap both sections in new heat wrap? Is it ok to wrap the standard vf36 headers? Is there any point in upgrading to a set of gtspec headers or similar, Turbo ill be going for should see things to about 400 and that will be where ill leave it power wise. If standard twinscroll headers and up pipe are fine, ill just rewrap and keep using them with new turbo.

Cheers

Dan

Standard OEM TS headers are one of the best out there for spool.

The oem up pipe. Its got four little welds two top and two bottom for the heat shield. All four of mine where cracked and needed re-welding to stop them rattling.

I removed my heat shields off my twinscroll jdm sti for the same reason, replaced with heat wrap and all seams to be ok. The standard headers are a great piece of kit from the factory no need to upgrade.

At what power do they need to be changed??

Have you come across SSI T/S headers? Are they any good?
