Using a Garmin satnav, how do I......?

Get it to guide me to a city?

Whilst in Belgium, recently, we got to a road closed by the police, with no detours marked, and ended up off our route. I stopped and tried to get it to guide me towards Paris, but it wanted an actual ADDRESS, and refused to do anything until I gave it one, postcode, street and number.
luckily, I could enter a mate's address near Lille and go from that.

but IS there a way to get it to guide you to a city, town etc, without entering the complete address, which you may not know?

TIA

You sure there isnt an option to choose Town/City ?

Havent used mine in a while but I'm pretty sure mine has the option , and its the cheapest one they do !
Think there is City , Road Junction , address , coordinates.

Yes, I entered the city, it then wanted postcode, then road name, then number.......

No , I mean theres a menu to just enter the City ?

Ill get mine and have a look.

You just choose next when presented with the menus after city without entering anything

My menu's are

Where to or View Map. (Select where to)

Then its Address , Go Home , POIs , Recent (Select page 2)

Then it's Favourites , Junctions , Extras , Cities (Select Cities)

It brings up a list of Cities in order of nearest first , with the option to spell. I typed PARIS and it came up and mine it UK only ! Lol :)

Thanks very much, found it now thanks to Charlie.

I DID think it was a bit odd that you couldn't do that, but never saw the second "page" of what to do.
Cheers.
