Not what I expected to see

Sat in the garden about an hour ago enjoing a beer and a BBQ....:thumb:

Look up to see the Vulcan Bomber cruising towards us at a very low altitude, made a very graceful bank to the right to show the full wing profile and disappeared off into the sunset.....:notworthy:notworthy

Just made the night for me...

I was on the golf course many years ago and Concorde flew overhead really low. Like you it made my day as it was unexpected. :thumb:

I know, that is so sad.....

Living where I do I seem to be on a lot of the display routes, regularly have the BBM flight go over, this was just totally unexpected.

Tried to do a bit of digging to see where it was off to but unsuccessful. Its based at Doncaster and the next due display is not until the 9th June in Welshpool...

Much more fun to turn the graceful turn into a climb into a vertical wingover rolling the aircraft to the inverted to bring the nose back down to the horizon and a controlled recovery to level flight!

That 3rd youtube vid at yeovilton -:eek:

Bet they needed new eardrums after that - fcuk me they were close to line!!

Leslie 04 June 2013 03:51 PM

I did a display at Yeovilton, not sure that is me flying the one shown, maybe not. During that display a German pilot tried to do a very tight final turn in his F104 and the aircraft stalled and flicked into the ground. Wrong move! I took off for my display just after that happened. The so called "awesome landing" one could easily be me because I used to do a lowlevel circuit and play the final turn so that I did not level the wings until just before touchdown and then do a roller landing to take off for the rest of the display. We all had our own display sequence, the only thing you had to get right was the length of time that the display took.

Can't tell you how much I miss doing that kind of hooliganism!

ScoobyDriverWannabe 08 June 2013 07:52 PM

wonder how much it costs to hire for a private party

chopperman 08 June 2013 08:20 PM

That's very cool. I have not seen a Vulcan fly for years. I do get to see The Lancaster bomber from time to time. In fact it flew over my house the other week. Nothing like the sound of 4 merlin engines.

DYK 08 June 2013 10:07 PM

Just listen to it again,it's kinda Eerie but cool too, what causes that noise....

albob 08 June 2013 10:39 PM

Leslie will tell you tomorrow.........!

DYK 09 June 2013 05:28 PM

I don't believe it,was in the bedroom and i could hear a humming sound coming over the house,i looked out the window and seen a plane fly over,it was green, had 4 engines and a star under the right wing,i went to get my phone to take a pic but it had flew behind the tree, damn that would of been a great pic,it was flying really low too.
It looked a bit like the one in this pic.

Where are you mate?

About an hour ago a B17 Bomber trundled over my place over here by Santa pod, my guess was it was on it way back to Duxford...

I love where I live

In the last 2 weeks, Lancaster, Vulcan and B17..... just superb:luxhello::luxhello:

looking at the pictures and remembering in my head what it looked like,I'd say a B17 is exactly what it is,just a pity these things fly over when you not expecting it,really would of liked to got a pic of it.

I did 3 years at Pershore a long time ago. I thought it was a glider airfield now.

It may still be it didn't look like a busy runway I think it was just a one day thing
