s4u standard location turbo rotated set up

just wondering is anyone running the "subaru 4 you" rotated exhaust kit for standard location turbos?
if so with what turbo, and is there any back to back figures from this?
im thinking im gonna go for it but at £600 plus other bits n pieces which would be needed, would just like to try gather some info on this first!

Might be worth dropping Simon, JGM a PM, as he does a bit of mapping for Len at S4U.

yeah thats true and a good shout, could be worth while

Anyone else got any experience with this kit?

What is the point of the kit? I thought the t3 (etc) rotated set ups where to enable other turbos to be run, I.e stuff that wouldn't normally fit due to having the wrong flange.

Point of the kit is to be able to run normal location turbo such as 20g,sc42 etc in rotated position to get better torque/spool and other benefits of rotating the turbo.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had I.e an sc42 fitted in standard location and then rotated it and how big the benefits are? As it will probably cost at least £1k to hook this kit up.
So I need to know how big the benefits are,if its just couple hundred rpm spool then I'm not gonna bother.

I would say its more for looks than providing substansial performance gains, only a proper rotated turbo setup will provide the performance gains

That's what I was thinking, would be great to see a graph of it being done though.

Pretty sure Simon (JGM) had this kit on his old car

I was seriously considering this kit on my classic but after much thought I realised it just wasn't worth the hassle and costs involved.

Hmm, I don't buy that it would give faster spool/more torque - how could it possibly if you're still using the same exhaust housing, flanges etc etc.

jake1989 30 May 2013 02:18 PM

I spoke to s4u yesterday and they said it will improve spool and torque.by how much I don't know,
The only real advantage I can see is you can bolt an air filter basically directly on to the turbo and not through the standard inlet pipe which is a crap design.
This is why I'm interested to see results from it.
Surely someone must be running one on here?! Lol

banny sti 30 May 2013 02:20 PM

The restrictive part of the standard setup, is the exhaust side not the compressor side ;)

jake1989 30 May 2013 03:44 PM

Really? learn something new everyday lol

MattyB1983 30 May 2013 03:53 PM

I very much doubt you'll see any performance gains from it, its merely for cosmetics.

I'd listen to what banny is telling you, he knows a thing or two about modding.:lol1:

Yeah I know, seen a few pics on here of his monster.hence why I didn't question why he had to say ;-) lol
