stu turbo 98 26 May 2013 07:06 PM

Ive never seen paint do that before, who did it?

super_ted 26 May 2013 07:07 PM

Probably the heat & the scoop flexing at speed maybe?

Bad_HatHarry 26 May 2013 07:07 PM

Local paintshop stu, they have a good rep.

Bad_HatHarry 26 May 2013 07:09 PM

super ted the ally does flex when im running, but 2 pack paint should flex to right

300gnspitzer 26 May 2013 07:10 PM

You need different primer for aluminium, its difficult to get anything to stick to it.

Bad_HatHarry 26 May 2013 07:12 PM

ok thanks 300, are mention that when i pop in to see them.

Looks like fillers lifted, needs to be etch/zinc primed for alloy bonnet as far as I know.pete

Bad_HatHarry 26 May 2013 07:55 PM

ok thanks pete

bioforger 26 May 2013 08:25 PM

the bodyshop should know that to be fair, it's basic prep work :nono:

MichaelB 26 May 2013 09:16 PM

If they are a good paint shop they'll sort it for you. You are about to find out how good they are.

GeeDee 30 May 2013 06:10 PM

Looks to be pretty thickly applied - loses benefit of lightweight aluminium with all that paint on it :norty:

They turned out to be bad unfortunately MichaelB:(

It is now in the hands of my solicitor:thumb: who just happens to be my wife:luxhello:
So thats one less thing to worry about:lol1:

Fonzey 30 May 2013 09:44 PM

How did they react to your complaint? Surely with such a new paintjob their methods/execution need to be reviewed.

CREWJ 30 May 2013 09:49 PM

Sounds like a very bad place to go.

RICHARD J 30 May 2013 09:57 PM

Name them so no one else is ripped off. My 10 month old paint job has developed a minor blemish & my body shop is going to do it again at no cost to myself, they insisted on it being perfect as they want me totally satisfied.

Bad_HatHarry 30 May 2013 10:03 PM

Yeah when i spoke to the owner of the company he started going into a
ramble about what had been done, you know that kind of talk that they just making excuses, tryed to explain to me that they didnt take the old paint right back so with the old paint underneath thats why it happened.:wonder:

To say i was shocked well you can imagine, it didnt even cross my mind that they would,nt rub it down properly:wonder:

bioforger 30 May 2013 10:18 PM

jesus, no wonder it cracked, what a bodge job

Bad_HatHarry 30 May 2013 10:48 PM

What will really make you laugh is when i asked what will be done, he
said that will be another £100 on top of what i payed already:lol1:

The said company is Johnsons accident repair centre, burgess hill. stay well clear:thumb:
Even checkatrade have got involved since i phoned trading standards,
Still im not gonna lose any sleep over it, lifes to short.

ditchmyster 31 May 2013 07:05 AM

So you paid them to do a sub-standard job and they want you to pay them to fix it.:lol1:

Beggers belief.

How much did it cost first time round?

Bad_HatHarry 31 May 2013 10:33 AM

It was £204 Ditch

bioforger 31 May 2013 06:11 PM

lol @ £200, has to be said, what did you expect at that price :)

his-n-her-scoobs 31 May 2013 06:37 PM

Sorry but £200 a panel is about the going rate for a good job round here. I would certainly be expecting the paint shop to sort it.

:)

bioforger 31 May 2013 07:02 PM

£200 for a complete bonnet respray? get out of here!

his-n-her-scoobs 31 May 2013 08:18 PM

Plus paint of course, and he has a good reputation.

Currently have a spare alloy bonnet in with a mate on a "when I get time" basis, cost of paint only.

After which I have a this lot for him (look in the summer house) PMSL

One's a pro and the other a mate.
It's good to have mates :)

:)

cuprajake 31 May 2013 08:27 PM

In fairness to the body shop it depends what you've asked them to do,

You say you had a new bonnet painted? So I presume you bought this from subaru in factory primer?

Did you supply them with a used bonnet from a scrapers?

Did they do any filling or was it just a case of can you paint me a bonnet,

If we're were brought in a bonnet, and asked to paint it then it would be inspected for repairs or sub standard work, it wouldn't be taken down to bare metal if that's what you'd be expecting. It would be taken down and high build primered.

All depends whatbyounasked to be done.
