Training WRX by Nick Warne - several versions out there with input from MRT in Australia.

The Hyper Rev books are good for the JDM stuff, but much of the books are taken up with ads for JDM tuning houses.

The best one I found for the GC8s was .

Price has gone a bit daft since I bought mine:freak3:

There was a bit of a debate on the Type RA site a few weeks ago: Impreza books

Hi Dean, once again that's very useful information, thank you. Looks like I'd better start saving up though.

Osimabu 09 June 2013 06:01 PM

If anyone is interested, I've just found that the Training WRX book is apparently still available from here for £35.00:

Just to confirm the above, it is available from Mocom (and my copy is on its way).

Thanks again Dean.

Osimabu 12 June 2013 01:23 PM

The book has now arrived. And it looks very good, too.

DantheMan2605 12 June 2013 02:29 PM

Hi mate what sort of things does it cover? I saw it on mocoms website a while back, was a bit weary of parting that much for a 'book'

I've got a book called Beasts from the East which has a large section on Imprezas and isn't a bad read.

Osimabu 12 June 2013 06:23 PM

Having had a better look through the Training WRX book this afternoon, it covers pretty much everything related to improving the cars, with good sections on engines, gearboxes and diffs, suspension, brakes, electronics, some race preparation, etc, etc.

However, it was published in late 2005 and although there's a Hawk on the cover, it consequently doesn't have much on them at all. What was state of the art then is probably fairly old hat now with the benefit of eight years of progress. There's nothing about the 2.5 engine problems for example, although it does cover the likely engine failures various problems (eg detonation) can cause.

It also seems to be biased towards the WRX, with ideas about to improve them to STi specification. No bad thing, but worth noting. And it's Australian, so some of the stuff is less applicable to the UK market cars.

It's probably the best book of its type, but I've a feeling more useful information could be found on here nowadays. I'm glad I didn't pay the daft eBay prices for a copy.

'Beasts From The East' I came across in W H Smith in the Isle of Man last week. They only had a rather dog-eared copy which I didn't buy and I'd forgotten to check if it was still available here, so thanks for the reminder.

I've just updated the list at the top to include all the books others have kindly told me about, and a couple more that I've found recently.

Any others please?

Osimabu 14 August 2013 06:37 AM

Another new one from Japan:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=121155028513
It looks very interesting from what's shown on there.

Edit - If the link is broken, this is the 'STi International - 20 Years of Progress' book in post one.

Osimabu 27 September 2013 08:37 AM

A couple more books added today (see Post 1, above) and one more to come from Australia shortly I hope.

Can anyone else add any to this please?

Thanks folks.

Osimabu 27 September 2013 02:42 PM

The Australian one is now added ('Subaru WRX' by Ewan Kennedy).

Osimabu 20 November 2013 10:19 PM

Another book to add, but only to read if you parlons Francais, of course (which I don't):

http://www.leslisieres.com/livre/439...t-roussel-etai

I've just ordered one from Amazon.fr for about £34.50 delivered. I'll report back when it arrives.

Osimabu 06 December 2013 06:05 AM

This book has now been published.

It's in French and as mentioned above, I got mine from Amazon.fr (dead easy, it's the same as the UK site but in French) for just over £35 delivered. In summary, it's a history of the road cars and the rally cars with hundreds of superb colour photos, albeit some are quite familiar from other books.

A very large hardback with 194 pages, it's beautifully produced and I'm pleased with it, but sadly Je ne parle pas très bien Français, so I've no idea if it's a good read or not.

As we've a lot of new folks on here at the moment, I thought I'd give this a bounce back up as it might be of interest.

Has anyone any further books to add please?
