Share your Virgin Media deal

Just been on the phone to disconnections with VM to try and squeeze a better deal out of them and they are adamant that I'm on the best deal they could possibly give so I thought it might be helpful if we compare deals and gives us something to hit them with.

Sorry if anyone works for Virgin and thinks this isn't acceptable.

My deal

60MB Broadband
All channels (kids, music, documentaries etc) apart from Movies and Sport
TiVo box in front room
V+ HD box in 2nd room
All available HD channels
Unlimited evening and weekend phone

£56.74

Just managed to squeeze next month half price out of them as long as I don't disconnect in the next few weeks.

Jamie330S 21 May 2013 08:32 PM

I work there, so good luck! Biggest prob will be your bill starts to magically increase over the months for no apparent reason. Hmmm

Deal seems ok though, similar to what I negotiate with SKY.

DYK 21 May 2013 08:54 PM

VM are good at sneaking the price up little by little ..

stualex 21 May 2013 08:57 PM

Will keep an eye on the bill but have had at least one letter in the last year which stated due to rising cost's my bill would be going up accordingly. Think it went up by around £5.

Have been looking at SKY deals and I'm finding ones similar to what I've got minus the 60MB and 2nd box for around the same price, but with SKY I'd get the F1 channel which is a deal winner for me, plus Quidco have some cracking cash back deals on at the mo.

Jamescsti 21 May 2013 09:07 PM

Think I get a bad deal now,

20mb broadband
Free evening and weekend calls
tiVo box with all channels except sports and movies

Pay £65 per month.

I don't have another TV so another box is no use to me, had an amusing conversation when I upgraded to TiVo. The Virgin call centre couldn't understand I only have 1 TV, even when I asked what I was supposed to connect a second box to?

This is why I thought it would be a good idea to share deals. I know they give better deals to longer serving customers which I have been for 8 years but my Dad has been with them since it was Comcast and his deal is:

20MB BB
Medium TV
V+ HD box
XL Phone
2nd phone line (as he has a business)

£95

I kept telling him they are having his life but whenever he rings they say its their best deal as he has a 2nd line!!

chopperman 21 May 2013 09:27 PM

120 Mb fibre optic broadband.
Virgin phone
virgin HD box.
£47 per month.

I know, I think they are charging him something like £35 for the second line, they say its because he's kept the number from his old BT days from 30 years ago and they are coming out with some reasons as to why it costs more. Basically I think his 2 lines and phone package are around £60 of his bill!

PaulC72 21 May 2013 09:53 PM

Glad we can't get them here hearing about those sorts of charges.

saints_forever 21 May 2013 11:33 PM

Parents pay £120 a month:

30MB broadband
XL Unlimited weekday calls to landlines
XL TV package with sky sports and movies
All HD channels
TiVo box in the lounge
HD box in bedroom 1
Standard box in bedroom 2

Was getting it for less but they have been putting their prices up, was getting it for £85 on promotion when they first went with virgin. Then went to £110 and now crept to £120.

killbill 21 May 2013 11:57 PM

XL tv package
ultd calls
60mb bb
hd channels
V+box in living room
hd box my room
hd box sons room
hd box daughters room

£55 (would be £50 due to payment option)

its one of the mates rates things.

The Hoff 22 May 2013 10:17 PM

20MB Broadband, Large TV package, no phone line - £34.50 a month

chocolate_o_brian 22 May 2013 11:01 PM

I get:

30mb broadband (consistent 30-32mb speed too)
XL tv package
Sky Sports and Movie package
HD channels
TiVo box Downstairs
V+ HD box upstairs
Unlimited evening/weekend calls
Unlimited anytime 0800 calls

£86 pm

Virgin have a knack of increasing prices twice a year currently too, nearly 5% each time too.

Let me guess, you work in Marketing as a proof-reader?

Ant 24 May 2013 01:20 PM

I don't know if its just me but when you add your package they tell you what your monthly price is then you agree, but then later on you want a discount?

Why agree in the first place if you're not happy with the cost?

I am staggered at the amount people pay for comms

especially when seen in context of a % of their income

pimmo2000 25 May 2013 12:08 PM

Looking at one of the deals for new customers,

100Mb BBI, talk anytime plus talk mobile and talk internation, XL TV and 30 HD channels, 500GB TiVo, extra VHD box, three months spotify ..

£52.99 a month, down on the £82.49 normally ..

Seems ok ?
