Coolant - What type

I have searched the net and the forums and there are so many posts don't use this, you must use this, that will wreck your engine blah blah blah.

I am now in a totally confused state...

Can someone please confirm what type of coolant I should use in an 05 plate WRX turbo. I don't want to start another which is best debate just want to know which type is suitable for the car.

Thanks for your help

Dave

Hi i have used red anti freeze from my local motor shop for the last few years never had any problems with it.

Go to your local Subaru "stealership" and pick some up from there.

If you have drained and are doing a refill, just ask at a decent motor factors for anti-freeze suitable for an alloy engine and having a corrosion inhibitor.

Don't get bound up by colour: in the end, it's meaningless, just a dye put in by the manufacturer, and any can be any colour.

I use motoquip blue, plus some MoCool additive, I also use distilled not tap water to reduce scaling.

I live in a very hard water area, and DON'T bother using distilled water..
Scaling takes place because slats dissolved in the water are deposited as the water evaporates away.

So little water is lost in an enclosed cooling system it makes it not worth it.

I just buy the pink pre-mixed stuff from Halfords, does the job for me! I think the oil you use should be more of a concern than the coolant
