Getting some new wheels soon and would like a scoob WRX but budget isnt quite there. I could afford a '95 Nissan 200sx, '92 MR2 Turbo or a '92 Celica GT4, or perhaps even an early skyline. What do you reckon I should look for?

Get a Nissan either a S14a or a R32 can't go wrong with these..

Yeah, I thought with the nissan S14 I could at least get a car that wasnt too old as they seem to be cheap. Toyota and Honda seem to produce better quality cars than Nissan and Subaru, or at least they retain the value for longer and I have been told to stay away from pre-96 Scoobs, hence they are out of my league.
With the MR2 and GT4 turbo am I getting a better quality (?) but older car than with the Nissan S14.
With an R32 I would be worried about problems as they are getting on a bit.
I currently drive an '91 NA MR2 and I really want something quite bit quicker. Is the Nissan S14 really that quick - I drove an S13 and didnt think that much of it (but it was standard).

Whats your budget ? Powerstation have a 1994 MR2 Turbo (240bhp one) for 6.5K. See: http://www.powerstation.org.uk/ForSale/PS_MR2.html

I've driven this one, and it is a bit quick :D

Cheers

yeah a Pulsar GTir or an St205 GT4 would be best, easily uprated turbo blocks with 4wd, leagues ahead of the 200sx or the Mr2 in terms of wet weather grip, if its rwd fun u want stick with the 200sx a much better balanced car but check insurance as the front end is quite pricey to replace (which eefects premium)

Cheers

How about a nice big 2.5 TT Soarer. 0-60 in about 6 seconds and 100 comes up in 13 odd. Plus you get 27-28 mpg out of it.

I really rated my 200sx not great off the mark but once moving it felt quick. 100 comes up in under 17 seconds, 0- 60 take nearly 7 of that so up past 60 it really does shift.

ST205 celica would be best your looking at 7k minimum, for that you could get a 97-98 200sx. 7k also gets you in to a 96 Legacy twin turbo. Also knocking on the door of a Skyline GTs-T R33.

All depends on budget...
