Or keep 17's and have better ride, and probably, better handling?

Ditto. Or fit some balsa wood shocks (bit of give in them), make contact with a good chiropractor and then fit the 18's.I must search out these "Rotta's" are they for Scoundrels!

I got some 245/40R18s for my classic and they don't fit lol So we have to roll the arches and change the suspension. Although, the suspension is being done anyway. Think I have 225/45R17s Could be 225/40R17s

We have just put a set of Rota grid 18" wheels on a type R, they are et44 8.5x18 with 225/40/18 tyres, they are alright with 2 people up front with no major issues of rubbing or catching, they do scrub a little if you are hard in to a left hand bend and hit a recess in the road, but other than that they seem to be ok, they have only been on the car for around 3 days so ain't had much chance to do alot of miles, but first signs look to be ok, although they do protrude the arch slightly.

I had ultralite atecs on my classic. 225-40/18 - et45. Sat really nice in the arches... they were 18x8
Didn't rub at all but I did have a pretty hard setup.
