'07 shock knock - decisions decisions

I've been putting off doing something about my rear shocks for too long (after hoping that Subaru UK would replace them AGAIN under warranty - not a chance).

Personally, I think that they should accept that there's a design flaw, and replace them.....I've run other cars to 180,000 miles and never needed any suspension work doing! This is my third pair!

So, I guess I have 2 initial options.....

1. Get some KYB (Gold?) replacement shocks for the rear. But, aren't the OE ones made by KYB? And if so, won't I end up having the same short life?

2. Go for BC coilovers - more expensive, but at least all 4 corners are replaced!

For once in my life, comfort needs to take a slight priority over handling.

I'd be grateful for any advice or recommendations!

Consider the grease nipple refurb, worked a treat on my Widetrack shocks :)

Considering how long they've been knocking for, I think they MIGHT be beyond that kind of repair......although, if I could find someone who has the right tools, maybe they could confirm or deny that! :lol1:

How often do you have to re-grease them?

In theory, never. The only reason for using a nipple is so that grease can be added under pressure to get the right coverage.

I recently did it to my 2005 shocks on 40k miles and it silenced them a treat.

I had no real mechanical skills so it took me a few days, but I can't argue with the results.

Well...I probably have even LESS mechanical skills! :lol1:

I might ask a few people.....and see if they'll help!

I would also be interested to know if there is someone in the south east who could do this work on wide track newages - no chance of me doing this myself.
