PSI3 ECU DATA MONITOR

I have the above device fitted in my impreza. As some of you know it stores peak values such as MPH, RPM, Boost etc.

My question is does it store date and times when these were reached?

Thanks

Andy.

wagontim 30 April 2013 08:51 PM

Dont think it does mate. Mine dont :(

tattoosi 30 April 2013 08:58 PM

nor mine mate

TurboAndy 01 May 2013 03:40 PM

Thanks guys.

How accurate would you say yours are when recording road speeds (MPH)and engine speed (RPM)?

rob84 01 May 2013 10:56 PM

the psi3 will be the same as my scangauge monitor. it records what the ecu see's & if the ecu see's it then it's gospel that it's happened no two ways about it, so if some toerag has been caning your car it will record it assuming you reset the data before it went

TurboAndy 02 May 2013 07:26 AM

This is as I thought but needed to hear it from someone else.

For those who don't know I had my car booked in a garage for tracking work to be done who specialise in Audi TT services. I restset the peak values on the monitor before they picked up the car in the morning. On getting back in my car in the evening I first noticed quarter of a tank of fuel gone and reading the PSI3 it recorded a top speed of 123mph and an engine top speed of 8029RPM.
The garage are denighing they have done that in my car and that my psi3 must be faulty.
I've now tested it 4 times last night with a GPS device and as I thought the psi3 is reading correct.

LuckyWelshchap 02 May 2013 07:48 AM

You might have a problem now that you've taken it out (which I accept you'd have to anyway) because the place could say that the readings were when you were driving, after you had it back.

I presume that you've had a couple of people witness the readings as soon as you got back from the garage and that you can prove that it is almost impossible for you to have done 123mph in doing so?

I would then present them with this evidence and suggest that bad publicity, either through forums such as this, Trading Standards etc. or a police inquiry - since clearly the law has been broken to a dangerous degree, and there's also the matter of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent - would be bad for their business.
(The police inquiy is useful because they can access CCTV footage, and at least prove that the car was on the road at the time the garage had it).

I hope you get some recompense.

Cheers.

L.J.F 02 May 2013 08:56 AM

Lets just hope they didn't go through a speed camera:(

JDM_Stig 02 May 2013 09:12 AM

do you have a tracker ? just wondered if you approached them if they may be able to help,
another reason for in car camera.

.
Unless the battery is disconnected the monitor will have the last recorded peak readings stored.

When my car went in to a garage for some bodywork I told the manager that I would know exactly how it had been driven, if it needed to be moved. He looked rather bemused! When I got it back I checked the PSi3 before leaving the premisis while he was standing there It showed just over 5k rpm 73 mph and 1bar boost (I set the boost controller 'off' so there was only actuator control) "We have to road test to make sure there's no excessive wind noise"

The bold bit is the important thing.

No it doesn't store times whem max values were reached.

Sorry to hear about this and very upsetting when ****e like this happens.

Go back to them and make a fuss. Did you tell them there and then or did you notice it when at home?

The car had been delivered back to my work by them. I checked the PSI3 due to the amount of fuel that they used.
I got my 2 work colleagues to look at the readings as I just couldn't believe what I was seeing.
I share a house with a copper who is a head controller at Bedford police station and did ask if he had any reports of a white car doing silly speeds on that day of which his reply was no. I also know the 2 roads where they could of done this speed and there are no CCTV on them.
The company did have permission to take my car for a before and after tracking road test.

The car is fitted with a tracker but isn't active so I'm guessing it will be of no use to contact the tracker company?

I would of done this too if I hadn't of been working late and had to of have it delivered back to my work. This is where my case falls apart as they can say I could of done it.

I have been on the phone to the manager about this and surprise surprise he says non of his lads would do this.
Due to me working late that night they were closed when I got to my car so was the next day when I phoned them.

fpan 02 May 2013 02:01 PM

I don't know if there is much that you can do other than spread the word and avoid using them again in the future.

LuckyWelshchap 02 May 2013 02:36 PM

a) Have you got the invoice for the job?
b) was it fixed price or parts and labour?

The possible angle I'm coming from is that you might be able to prove that the time taken was far in excess of what would be expected, and you want an explanation.
If that explanation isn't satisfactory and you feel you might have been overcharged then it's a lever towards Trading Standards.

To be fair, it's only a faint hope and I don't want to give you false hope.

Re. another thread that's appeared on here about naming and shaming your only other option I think is to threaten them that they might be asked for their side of the story before it gets all over the Internet forums.

Name the firm.
You are just relaying your findings after using them. Nothing un-ethical about that?

Hi.

Yes I've had an invoice and paid it as they wouldn't release my car other wise. No parts were fitted as the 2 things I had done was a new tire fitted which I supplied and to have the tracking done. As for the time taken to do the job they picked the car up in the morning and delivered it back at night.
As for there side of the story they say they didn't do it. Non of there lads would do it du to having 300bhp golf, 400bhp impreza, evos, Audi TT's so why would they thrash the pants off my car lol.

The invoice doesn't detail how many hours labour then?
(It's a really long shot I know, hoping they'll have billed something so excessive that they would have had to justify such long hours).

tubbytommy 02 May 2013 06:38 PM

andy im only guessing here and i have had no experience as i chose not to use them but if it is tts roadsport as i asume.

i was pointed that way by a forum we both know and i popped over to see about getting my geo done and i had a quick look around the workshop and it had a whiff of kwik fit about it (the staff) and after chatting to the owner/manager i dont know which one but he fed me a load of crap and that was enough for me to walk away as i had the feeling i would be ripped off.

it sucks mate, i know how much you look after your car and id be fuming if i found out mine had been red lined and driven at 120 mph.

sounds like i made the right choice in going elsewhere.

if your sure it was them that drove it at that rpm and speed, call there bluff and tell them you have had it confirmed by your tracker as these can store speed and location and see what they say, you havent got anything to lose.

I'm waiting to see if this gets sorted before I name them.

I've used the company quite a few times now and always been very happy with there set up and the way I and my car was treated up till now that is.

LuckyWelshchap 03 May 2013 12:10 AM

I don't want to add to the gllom Andy but it does look like you have to choose revenge over recompense.

You'll never know, but just believe how much business naming and shaming will cost them.

TurboAndy 03 May 2013 07:10 AM

Yeah I know what you mean. See if I get anywhere first. If not ill be hitting all the forums.

stevie1982 03 May 2013 08:32 AM

Guys I am aware that the company who makes these has gone under but does anyone know if you can still buy them. Other than used on here or ebay. Any companies still have stock left, appreciate it's a long shot just thought I would ask
