Hawk wrx tuning

Hi all, just joined ,

currently have a hawk eye sti , like the car , but doing a lot of mileage now so looking at selling it and getting a cheaper hawk wrx of same year , and different car for work

what mods do i need to get around 350-360bhp and what safe power are people running hawk wrx's at?

thanks

Wrx is limited to 350 due to the gearbox, extra insurance and cost of mods would soon take up any saving you make on the trade.

Wrx will need brakes at that level if tune etc etc

Remap £500, sti tmic £200, brakes 1k, turbo £400 ?? , fuel pump £150, arb, alk, etc etc

Mines at 370 with similar torque figure. Standard gear box and clutch and all is dandy (see my garage for more details)

If you need to release some cash for a daily runner then sell it but get an early blob or bug sti for weekends, but may be easier to keep the one you have and get a cheap run about, you always lose when changing cars and at least you know the faults or lack of with yours where you could buy something that costs more money if changing, I also think you will regret going to a wrx as the mods will cost as much as you are saving.

thanks for advice, but I should get around 8k for my 07 hawk sti has 37,000 miles and 1 owner , i think ?

then say I get a hawk wrx for 4.5k then say £1500 to get wrx to 350bhp ( I can do all work apart from mapping myself)

so to get 350bhp from the wrx , does this list sound right

sti top mount intercooler
sti pink injectors
vf43 turbo or would something like a td05 18/20g be better
ported headers
3" exhaust and down pipe
sti up pipe
re-map

You will need brakes! They are bad on a Wrx

hmmm, so, im running 400+bhp 400+ ftlb and done about 1000miles and gearbox is still going strong, not notchy or feeling funny in any sort of way, touch wood (pats head lol). Hawkeye box's are proving to be stronger than other 5 speeds, i know 3 running 450 of each + and mines 400+. Alot of it is down to how you drive it, smash it through the gears and your gonna kill it no mater what box you have. I did that to my classic on the isle of man at 260bhp lolk

Hawkeye injectors are different to other newage, wrx comes with 550's as standard. Mine maxed out the fuel pump at around 330 and then the injectors shortly after, but i was running the standard fuel presure reg.

won't need ported headers,

sc36, sti top mount (mine maxed at 405), fuel pump, wing mounted indy kit, decat (inc up pipe) and remap should easily get there, with only possible other issue being inlet pipe.

p.s. i've got a 06 wrx runing forged 2.5, sc46, sti top mount, 740 injectors, walbrough 400l/h fuel pump, wing mounted induction kit, perin inlet pipe and a scr race decat and it made 404.6bhp 421ftlb and only being limited by the top mount.

p.s., you can get away with the brakes, but you have to change how you drive it (what im having to do). Def worth doing sooner rather than later.
