Broken cam sprocket and belt GTB twin turbo
Ok, has anybody seen this happen before?. Whats the likelihood that the engine is toast now with bent valves and all. not sure which way to go with this now. try and fix the engine or do a engine swap. anybody got experience with damage like this?

Damn. If i were a betting man i would put my money on the engine being goosed. You never know though, if it wasn't revving maybe its possible you got away with it. I suppose the only way of really telling is put a camera in the bores and look for damage, or bung a new cam sproket/pully and belt on and see it you can turn the engine over by hand. if you can do a compression test.

Looks painful. Well the motor has to come out to inspect the damage anyway, so you may as well get that far and then determine if you need a new lump once it's out and stripped down so that you can see the valves on both sides... Any idea how it happened? |
