There is a chance that I could get hold of a ppp'd ecu from a '01 wrx cheaply(from an accident write off). If I fitted this to a standard '01wrx would I see the benefit from it? Would I need the restrictor as well? Where is it fitted? the Prodrive blue intercooler hose has gone so I can't get that, but could get samco hoses if better ones are needed.
My car has an ITG filter and Scoobysport centre de-cat, resonater and back box fitted.

And what is the "true" value of this ECU if I was able to sell it?

Thanx

Yes you would get benefit - it fits in the passenger footwell - just loosen the trim and then use a 10mm spanner if it is the same as the MY00.

The restrictor would be required to run full boost. It is a brass restrictor in the pipe at the turbo outlet. If not available you could get one from your dealer but make sure it is specifically for PPP as it is smaller than the standard 1.2mm size, or fill your own with solder and redrill it to the right size - I believe it is between 1.1 and 1.2 mm ? 1.15mm.

The MY01 and after PPP is just a daughter board inside the ECU which is a MAP sensor remap = fuel cut lifter. You can build something that does effectively the same with about £5 of electronics, and the new STi PPP sounds like it will be the same. I wouldn not spend good money on one myself.

I recently sold my MY00 PPP ECU for £600 in exchange for a MY99 ECU.

thanks john
would cost me in the region of £100(i tink) for ecu and brass restrictor but i wud have 2 give my old ecu in part ex so that no one knew the ecu had been swapped!
is that price ok?
would i b better off with this other mod?

was thinking if I could get a reasonable performance increase for £100 and a quick ecu swap then it was worth it?
but then i know very little!

thanx

Does the PPP come with a brass restrictor for the MY99/00?

Alex.

Yes for the price go for it absolutely.

MY99/00 PPP does not come with a restrictor - sometimes it needs one of a larger size as it tends to overboost easily especially with downpipes etc.

Just to back up what John said. I experimented with different restrictors on my old MY00 (full decat) - and did experience over boost (especially around the Ring - (which was nice....) )

Roadtrip, if you decide not to go the for PPP ECU - I would be very interested. Please email me the contact info for the person who's selling it.

Cheers

E.
