Anyone using Evans waterless coolant?
Anyone using Evans waterless coolant and do you really need to use the flush/engine prep
fluid ?(another bleedin' £40 !!!!) Cheers,John |
I ran it in my BMW and focus, it's brilliant, haven't got road to it yet with the Scooby as had a coolant change just before I bought so will change to Evans when I put silicone hoses on! As for the flush yes you do need it as its hydroscopic which means it attracts and absorbed any water left in the system, the prep fluid can be reused as many times as you want though, this stuff gets a massive :thumb: up from me

has a much higher boiling point than water, when water heats up it expands creating pressure (thats why you dont open rad cap when engine is hot) does not corrode engine internals and a few more things :) i first saw this on wheeler dealers with good ol Ed China :) have a look here |
Many thanks All,thats explained a lot, when I have a few pennies its going in :)
Another advantage is I believe less chance of localised "hot spots" in your cooling system. BTW Wiggy you mean hygroscopic I think. Another (Bad) example of a hygroscopic fluid is brake fluid, that absorbs water hence need for regular changes .Cheers,John |
Sorry my spelling

Out of interest does the cooling system not require a certain amount of pressure to operate correctly?
Such as the cooling of the turbo when the engine is switched off is aided by the expansion of fluid therefore pushing fresh cooler fluid into the turbo. I won't personally be using it. |
