secondary air pump stuck open
A friend read the error code p1410. Can this valve be closed again or any advice would be much appreciated. Car is a 07 hawk WRX
|
I had the same code come up on my Hawk wrx '56.
Simple job to do, Remove I/C. Trace back from secondary pump you'll see a t piece and hoses. Remove them. Undo the brackets on the valve and 2 bolts going into the engine block. (watch out for metal gasket)! Valve assembly should be free. Undo screws and spray liberally with Carb cleaner. Put everything back on. I'm not a genius at mechanics and even with my chip shovel hands I managed to do it in an hour. Never had a problem with it since and that was nearly a year ago. |
Thanks alot beefoss will give it a shot. You dont happen to have a pic

I'll just upload onto photobucket then send them on. Tinterweb reception is rubbish so bear with me. I'll get it done.

Hope this works. You can see the build up of carbon all over the insides! |
Flip you cant have see the carbon deposits. Thanks for the pics

Yeah too right. The heat had even made the black rubber seal in the centre bubble slightly. I probably should replace the seal but because the valve on it's own is so expensive I'm looking to map out the secondary air system next time the car is in. Lots to read up on about the topic on websites. You might need some reading glasses after haha.
Hope it goes ok. |
In the photos is that the secondary air pump? Did you do anything with the airpump valves? The actual code on mine is secondary air pump
VALVE stuck open. Does the pump connect to the valve? |
Oh my apologies. I misread it. I've never opened the lid on the actual pump. My mistake. Mind you, it's worth doing this aswell.
