RETURN OF THE JEDI

AS my wife has started her thread i thought it was well overdue that i put a few typed words on the screen of my project,so far its just been a big shopping list that i have been buying over the last three years, yes you did hear me right (3 years)as they say rome was not built in a day;)anyway its hard to save money in my household with a wife and four children two dogs three water turtles one iguana and five adult beardies:lol1:and thats without the other day to day bills:brickwall.i have been into cars for as long as i can remember as my dad was into cars himself so i guess it was only natural that i was going to follow in his foot steps.i have owned or driven most performance cars of the last 25 years, but my first experience of turbo power was the Renault 5 turbo gordini which back in the 80s was a Rocket,i then understood what micheal knight was on about when driving Kit in the series knight rider. But i did not learn properly and bought myself a vauxhall Astra mk1 GTE 1.8 injection it was a nice good handerling quick car, that was untill my mate was at the lights with his R5Gtt and left me for dead i then realised i had to get turbo power and get it soon,so i never had to experience that feeling of losing badly and seeing my mates big cheesy grin:Dso i sold my astra and bought my renault 5 gt turbo that i owned for 10 years and spent loads of money to get it to 230+ bhp.i really loved that car and still do (my friend owns it now)if i never started a family back then i would of still had it anyway that was my excuse that i needed a bigger car with four doors and my new love affair with the subaru impreza wrx sti began.heres a few pics of my renault i will download my parts for my subaru later on,peace.SJ.

At first i was going to stroke my 2 litre sti engine to a 2.1 but after talking to Neil at slowboy racing i decided to just do the 2.35 and started to source my parts for that. before hand i had already started to modify my car over the years with such mods as GARRETT GT28 some zero sports parts front mount 650cc injectors etc... and a bit of bling.its funny when i look back to how my engine was evolving in looks and performance from when i first got it.SJ.

http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/a...i/DSC00010.jpg

more changes.
http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps60d51c24.jpg

even more.
http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/a...psca7d1f25.jpg

And thats how it is for now before i get really serious with it!!!

more to come.SJ.

Silver Scooby Sport 21 April 2013 12:16 PM

Nice work with the front mount that's a quality item  I can't quite see from the pictures but one thing I have picked up over the years is to be aware of the positive battery terminal and the spacing between the pipe work for the front mount..... I would suggest getting a large diameter silicon hose and cutting down the length and sheathing that area of pipe near the terminal for safety sake :)

yes it was tight but am going to relocate the battery in the boot now to avoid any mishaps:thumb:,the engine that you see in those pictures will be going into my wifes classic thats why she has started her own project thread,i keep on telling her to update her thread i think shes going to do some today with some pics.SJ.

stonejedi 22 April 2013 09:37 AM

i thought i would put up some pics of my interior changes from since i had the car.SJ.

Gearknob changed first and a camera and lazor detector added.
http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps90d5c83a.jpg

Then came sti defi gauges which took me ages to source and head unit changed for a kenwood dvd player, sat nav, digital tv receiver.etc...
http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/a...psc88b311a.jpg

i almost forgot my side gauges also.
http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps6257ba66.jpg

the once empty boot.
http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/a...pse4e8632a.jpg

Now not so empty, but the cd disc changer is removed now for a MP3 set up.

tubbytommy 22 April 2013 09:57 AM

lol eastenders on the stereo

riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicky...............

i love the genome gauges, ive been searching for ages for these, bloody rare and very expensive.

stonejedi 22 April 2013 10:12 AM

i think it took me a little over a year to find the Genome gauges with the original controller,Defi only made a select number for subaru japan to celebrate the launch of the newage sti,I had to import mine from the land of the rising sun and pay through the teeth for the pleasure.SJ.

I got some bad news for you TT,Defi has stopped making those green defi link gauges, they were discontinued a good few years ago now,the reason i was given is the change of gauge lights was moving from what they claim to be the (old fashion Green) to Amber/red colours. You might be able to source a set second hand, but there getting rarer then gold plated hen teeth now.SJ.

stonejedi 23 April 2013 08:51 AM

I found a couple of pics of when i upgraded my standard brembo disc and pads with the Performance friction set up and changed my rear disc too with grooved disc PF Z rated pads all round. The braking of my car transformed i would highly recommend this set up to anyone with the brembo caliper its one of the best mods ive done to my car since i have owned her.SJ.

rears.
