Flywheel Skimming?
 

Hi All,

looking at buying a new clutch but thinking of keeping the same Flywheel - cars currently on 82k miles but funds at the minute wont allow for a new flywheel as well as clutch - before fitting the new clutch would anyone recommend skimming the flywheel before fitting ... and if so does anyone know anyone in the north west that offers this service?

It would be advisable to have the flywheel skimmed as its bound to have heat cracking and high spots on it - why not have it lightened at the same time.
It's similar to fitting new brake pads to a worn and grooved brake disk - not a good idea.

any idea of how i can get it done? - i went to autotechnica in Buxton to have my lst clutch fitted which cost me a surprising £150! - how much am i looking at to get it skimmed plus new clutch on top?

so long as the flywheel is not wobbly or scrored it can be reused. Give it a good clean also. just done my own clutch and put in a second hand flywheel which was in better condition than mine as mine was like a brake disc!
