It's got the following mods:

Exterior mods:

* morette headlights
* STI alloy wheels with Vredestein Sessanta tyres (225/45/17) - about 5-6mm thread left

Engine mods:
* Remap to 318HP on 97 octane fuel (I.e. no need to find a shell for filling up etc)
* td05 turbo (converted to front entry)
* PPP sports cat downpipe
* slip jointed up pipe (decat)
* decat centre exhaust section
* PPP backbox
* Green panel air filter
* blue STI injectors (flows the same as the pinks, but from a newer car)
* Walbro 255l/h fuel pump
* 3 port boost solenoid
* PPP samco intercooler y-pipe
* API lightened flywheel and Exedy pink clutch

Passed emissions with flying colours

Other performance mods:

* Eibach lowering springs on fresh dampers (I seem to recall the dampers were changed in November 2011, and springs at the same time)
* Recent discs + Pads from Ian (kevlar pads). Works very well on the road, but they do make a squeely noise when stopping at low speeds (especially when reversing)
* 22mm adjustable rear anti roll bar
* solid rear droplinks
* Uprated front droplinks - not sure what make these are, but they're not standard. Looks like some shiny blue ones?

General condition:

The car itself has done 130k miles, although the replacement engine has only done 45k (engine from my other car). The suspension is also fresh (see mods list above), so it definitely does not drive like an old barge. Tax to end of August, and MOT to February 2014.

The bodywork is a bit rough around the edges - not horribly so, but you can tell that it's not a 50k mile car. The front bumper has various scuffs and a crack (see pictures). I don't think there's one single panel that hasn't got a small carpark ding, or a scratch etc (again, I've tried to document these in the pictures). Keep in mind that the car is now coming up to 12 years old.

The wheels look OK, but could do with a refurb. They are perfectly straight, but there's some caked on brake dust, and also a couple of kerb marks (see photos).

I bought the car as it had a 2.1 litre engine (I wanted the engine for my track car), and it's now got a 2003 WRX 2.0 litre engine (block + heads) with 45k miles on it. I've essentially bolted every spare performance part I had lying around in the garage to this car, as I was going to keep it as a daily run about. However, my mrs hates it (prefers the ford focus as its more comfortable apparently), and my drive looks like a mud pit due to having to park one car on the grass, so either the focus or the subaru has to go.

When I swapped the engine (about 500 miles ago), I put on a fresh cambelt. The pulleys and idlers were still without noticable play, so I left them well alone. At the same time, it also received fresh oil (comma 5-50w competition oil), and fresh coolant, clutch and PS fluid.

Just tested the air con in the sun shine, and it still works fine.

There are a couple of issues with the car, which I'm not in a position to fix, due to the garage being full of immovable cars and the drive being a mud bath (see above).

The first one is that there is what sounds like an exhaust leak somewhere - sounds like possibly the join between the downpipe and the centre section.

The second is that there's a small squeak from the engine somewhere - sounds like possibly the power steering pump?

With the above in mind, I'm looking for 2500 ono. Not desperate to sell, so please do not offer 2000 or lower as I'd rather keep it then.

Car located in Petts Wood, Orpington, Kent

Looks a lovely car but then I'm biased, got the saloon version

Good luck, good price too

Henrik 16 April 2013 11:36 AM

Thanks :)

It does clean up OK... I might have been a bit overzealous in my description above on the bodywork, and tbh it doesn't look too bad IMO, but I'd hate for someone to turn up and think it was misdescribed. I'd rather someone turn up and think "not as bad as described".

weekend bump

Henrik 23 April 2013 03:02 PM

Insulting offers invited :)

Exhaust leak is no more (courtesy of some high temp silicone). The squeak has gone too - i suspect it was because the engine hadn't moved for a very long time (+1 year). It drives exactly as you'd expect from the RR graph.

Hi Henrik,

Are those still the STI wheels you bought off of me many moons ago?
Im glad to see they are still mint.:thumb:

I always regretted selling them.

Henrik 24 April 2013 10:08 AM

They are indeed! One of my better purchases :)

Hol 24 April 2013 09:12 PM

Cool. I'm glad they served you well.

I'm tempted to put my wagon up for sale and buy this , looks like a bargain .

Henrik 26 April 2013 10:50 PM

Yeah just want it gone tbh, my drive is looking worse by the day...

ross85 28 April 2013 10:44 PM

would you px? pm me

simonsss 28 April 2013 11:39 PM

Hi Henrik. I may also be interested in this car. Been on the lookout for a decent wagon or a Leggy GTB for a while now. I also have a part ex if your interested but it isn't essential. Can you PM me a bit more detail about the car. Did you carry our the engine conversion and all the mods? Does it need anything doing to it, mechanically?
Cheers for your time,
Simon

Henrik 29 April 2013 09:09 AM

Hi guys,

ideally not looking to PX anything, as the main reason for getting rid is the mud pit that the drive has turned into (see last pic above). Having said that, if you've got something interesting, then I could be bullied into paving the front lawn...

I've taken two videos of the car, from a cold start and a hot start. Once I manage to get the blimmin iphone to upload them to youtube, I'll post a link.

I did carry out all the work, yes, apart from the mapping which was done by Simon @ JGM. Mechanically, it appears to be sound.

simonsss 29 April 2013 09:38 PM

Videos would be cool if you can post them

Henrik 29 April 2013 10:52 PM

hot start:

The ticking noise is the injectors, btw.

You have pm

SouthWalesSam 01 May 2013 05:39 PM

This one looks like a bargain to me.

Especially as the seller seems to be quite open about the exact condition and reason for sale.

I've got a bug wagon with similar mods and I can honestly say that you're not going to get this much performance and fun and practicality from anything else at this price.

MalcB 22 May 2013 12:40 PM

Car looks great !!
Pleased it's gone to a good home and returned to where it came from. I had it before Henrik and I bought it from a chap in South Wales. :D

Funny.......... my Mrs didn't like it either.:(

simonsss 23 May 2013 08:09 AM

Hi MalcB, did you or the person before you put the Morettes on it? Just wondering what was changed from the original wiring as I'm going back to standard or STi lights.

The wife doesn't hate it yet, we shall see how she gets on in a couple of months when she's nearly ready to give birth! I have told her it will get her to the hospital quickly!!!!!:norty:

Simon

Henrik 24 May 2013 07:53 AM

Simon, I think the original wiring loom is still there.

The morettes have a shiny black plastic connector that connects into the original loom (matt(e?) black connectors). Essentially I think you'll be able to remove all the relays etc etc that come with the morettes and just plug the new head lights into the original connectors.

Malc, it is indeed, and a great car it was too :) Now if only all these damn wimmin-folk would stop ruining our plans, eh?
