Currently running a VF22, can I change it for a VF23?

I have bought a MY96 WRX which has the VF22 turbo as standard but unfortunately it has the dreaded death whine. I can't find another VF22 to replace it but have been offered a VF23 from a v3 sti from a trusted source. Can I simply swap the turbos and run it on my original ecu or is this going to throw the factory map out to a dangerous level? I can get the sti ecu that goes with the turbo but being an sti I assume it will have more aggressive cam profiles and will cause even more trouble. Anyone done this swap that can advise?

2 different turbos mate, i think you will need a map tweak. Talk to Duncan @ Racedynamix.

Fitments will be the same but i think you need a map tweak.
