subaru wrx sti uk 300 is there a kind?
 

hi im going to look at this subaru on sunday but very confused on the details that the owner has told me here is what he has said
subaru wrx sti uk 300 2002 bugeye
on log book is wrx sti
its a 5 speed gearbox
298bhp
interior i seen is sti
and badge on back of car is wrx uk 300
he says that the 6 speed gear box came into force in 2003

i cant find anything on the net that shows a wrx sti uk 300 bugeye all i get is wrx uk 300. is the details he is giving me correct is there a such car as a 2002 subaru wrx sti uk 300 5 speed box please help

Never heard of it myself, UK 300 was a ltd edition WRX.

An STi would have a 6 sp box, they came out with the new age cars, so he's spouting ****e there.
There was never a standard or Prodrive car that made 298bhp;
Standard cars;
WRX was either 215 or 225 bhp
STi was 265 bhp or 270 bhp later on (think that was at least blob eye shape tho)

Prodrive cars;
WRX with PPP was 265bhp (I think)
STi with PPP was 305bhp (again I think, but I'm fairly confident, tho happy to be proved wrong)

That info is off the top of my head.

The 6 speed box was introduced in the uk 2002 when the first uk sti's came into the country. The uk300 is a wrx hence the 5 speed box. It may well have had an sti interior fitted. But from your descrption its not an sti. What brakes does it have?

i have asked him on the phone and he says logbook stats its a sti i just cant figure out this as it looks as if its just a wrx uk 300

Hard to tell from the pics. The model code is the only 100% way to be sure.

Ask him for the applied model code or the start of the vin, If it has GDA in it, it's a WRX and if it has GDB in it, it's an Sti :thumb:
