Selling a car to somewhere in europe, whats the score?
What do i need to know if selling a scooby
to a private buyer from Germany. Are there pitfalls or complications? |
No :)
I´m from germany and i already bought 2 cars from the uk. You just need to hand over the v5 documents. Thats the most important thing. |
most important thing is getting your cash 1st!!! :norty:
|
As above Germany is not too much of a problem, Buyer will come over give you payment and you hand the documents over but you fill in the export part of the V5 and send to the DVLA.

The TUV is far stricter than an MOT and certain mods etc are a no no. The headlights will need changing as will the postion of the fog light if it's in the offside rear. The buyer will also have to buy winter wheels/tyres as they are a legal requirement too! First, get the dosh and then release the car. Cash is good but go to a bank and pay it in before you hand over the keys, the bank will check for forgeries. As said make sure you fill in the correct part of the V5 and away you go. |
Sold my EVO VII to a guy from Latvia must say in all my years it was the simplest transaction I have ever had on a car. He kindly sent me the below photo on his way home, last picture I have of it:cry::cry:

It's easy, as said above just fill out the V5 correctly, give him a 'sold as seen' receipt for the dosh and wave goodbye to your car.
My old wagon now resides in Berlin and has been converted to left hand drive by the new owner. |
Thanks everyone. Some really helpful advice and experiences.
