ecu change

Hello can anyone give me a step by step guide as how to change my ecu over ie what tools needed things to be careful about will it need any key code or programming. I have an 04 plate wrx 4 door import from Cyprus don't think it had any mods but not 100% sure

Why are you changing the ecu ?

Unless you are an engineer and/or programmer I wouldn't bother. There are "plug and play" ecu's, but I don't know much about those.

Every engine is different and will require some work to optimise the ECU programme

I was looking at buying one that came from a wrx the same year as mine but it's a prodrive model was hoping it would be quick and easy way of upping power

The Prodrive PP ECU's are plug and play but came with supporting mods to optimise the increased BHP (Cat pipe, fuel pump and IC pipe work) and are not too special. You'll need to (possibly) reprogramme the keys to match. Oh and make sure you get the Original Certificate too.

You'll achieve the same gains and more from a good panel filter, upgrade fuel pump and remap.

My Bugeye wagon went from 215BHP to 276BHP with a remap, pump, panel filter and better Jap Exhaust.

Cheers trooper I was going to change the fuel pump to a hrc 255 and change the exhaust as well. What's ic pipe work also what was the difference in ur petrol consumption would like to know how many miles did you get to a tank b4 it upgrades and after as I love driving my Scooby I use it for work so would like an idea how much more money I'm going to be giving those lovely people at shell

Prodrive pack is just 2nd cat delete pipe, samco style inter cooler hose and back box, followed by the ecu change, might be cheaper just to have an open ecu tune as the ppp ecu will need programming to your keys, or get a tactrix cable and flash a ppp map on yourself, that's what I did when I had my wrx.

Just forget the prodrive ecu swap, its more trouble/hassle than its worth.
Have your current ecu open sourced, far far better route to take.
